Simple Question: I am currently on a 90 Marriage Visa which expires on Wednesday 15th August. Can I apply for my 1 year extension on any working day right up until the expiry date? For example, If I were to come in to do the extension on the 12th. Would that work, or is there some kind of buffer period by which the extension must be done, like 2 weeks before the visa expires?

Yes.

You can apply any day within 30 (45 at some offices) days of the expiry date.

You can, in principle, apply on the last day. However, absent exceptional circumstances, it would be foolish to do that. The extension starts at the end of your current permission to stay regardless of how early or late you apply. Leaving it until the last day means any number of things could go wrong, and prevent your getting the planned extension.
