Supreme Commander Gen Thanchaiyan Srisuwan today denied claims that the Defence Ministry’s satellite project would be for spying.

Mr Srisuwan Janya, secretary-general of the so-called Association for the Protection of the Constitution, on Sunday issued a statement to oppose the ministry’s military satellite programme which he claimed would involve acquiring 112 small “Theia” satellites with a budget of 91.2 billion baht under a 2018-2027 strategic plan on space affairs.

The satellites were capable of spying on people  which would violate the privacy rights and freedom of the people, he said in the statement. Gen Thanchaiyan said the Defence Ministry has been working on a satellite project for more than 10 years with the Air Force’s space centre commissioned to carry out related studies.

Dont worry people, the only things Thai ever reaching space will be their ego's and stupidity.

"Supreme Commander Gen Thanchaiyan Srisuwan today denied claims that the Defence Ministry’s satellite project would be for spying."

Here is what my old teacher would have said: "OK boy now go out for 10 minutes fetch some fresh air, have a glass of water and sort your shitake out!"

someone is getting a hell of a backhander for this buy, the country is running out of money due to other spending and now this. This is just wasting money and not needed apart from the padded bank accounts someone will be getting from it

It is an ostentatious waste of money.  If Thailand wants to invest satallites for education, it should start where everyone else does, here :

I'm guessing a manned mission is still out of question.

You know a lot of people in high powered jobs are privately into S&M and female domination. It's a release from the stress of such powerful jobs.

So I guess the Supreme Commanders wife does more than peg out his laundry at the weekend.

I do wonder if the US satellite is capable of spying on more than just Thailand.

Perhaps it can also spy on China, sending the information back to Ammerika, thus making Thailand culpable?
