Tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh

Featured Replies

Hi.  im going to ho chi Minh tomorrow to get a 60 day tourist visa.   Im flying from BKK ,return

Do I need a Ticket to show me leaving Thailand with 60 days ?    Im hearing conflicting things also can I buy a bus or rail ticket.?

Any other info.?     Many Thanks.     kR

They definitely want to see a flight out. As of about 18 months ago, I was told they would accept financial proof (printed bank statements) combined with an itinerary in lieu of the flight out. In my experience, they are pretty flexible if you have a reasonable argument why the flight out should not apply. However, a lot can happen in 18 months. Perhaps, you could turn up early, leaving time to arrange a flight (should one be required) and make the application before the end of the morning.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.        Does it have to be a flight. ?    some people say it can be any means to leave the kingdom    IE bus ticket  etc ?

Bus ticket should be accepted.

Note that according to the website

Proof of accommodation to stay covering at least half of the trip with complete information

is also required.

Proof of 20,000 baht i.e. bank statement also seems to be required.

All the requirements here:

For Western tourists, at least, applying for the first or second time there, I do not think they insist on all the requirements being met. As long as you meet some of them, they seem willing to waive one or two of them. However, my experience there is not recent.

I just wonder if this page looked the same 6 or 12 months ago. It does look specific, they even mention the ticket has to have PNR or be an e-ticket, some of the fields are in red also.

I'd take all that's mentioned in there. I always did anyways, even for other places, to avoid surprises. I don't want to be the first guinea pig.

These were the requirements on September 22 2017: https://web.archive.org/web/20170922202950/http://www.thaiembassy.org:80/hochiminh/en/services/7442/80804-For-Non-Vietnamese-passport-holder-

They look pretty similar. However, I agree that it is wise to provide exactly what they are looking for unless that is, for some reason, onerous.

Yes. There was a change. My friend bought a giantibis bus ticket online from Bangkok to Siem Riep that was accepted.

They are strict on all requirements. If you don't have everything you will not get a visa.
