National police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has left for France in what is reported to be a new effort to seek help from the  Interpol to secure the extradition of former assistant abbot of Wat Sampanthawong in Bangkok, Phra Prommethi, from Germany.

It was the commissioner’s second trip in less than than two weeks in a bid  to take custody of Phra Prommethi, also known as Phra Jamnong Iem-Indra.

The national police chief flew out of the country on the night of June 10 on Thai Airways flight TG 930 from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France.

Good luck with that.   Usually there's an agreement between countries/law enforcement before an extradition.  Goofballs showing up, knocking on a door and making demands to police in a foreign country

  • One place you won't find them...…….on the highways of Thailand!

  • Man, they want this guy back. Hate to think what sort of dirt he has on them. Will be fun to watch the chief return empty handed again. Maybe he can see Trump next and ask him.

The police chief failed to arrest the monk while he was in Thailand so now he's running back and forth trying to bring him back and save his own job.

The Thai police seem to be all over the place at the moment: Germany, France and now the UK. Where's next?

I believe the monk is on the Riviera, although he is difficult to find, may take a month or two to locate him.

Of course the problem here is they haven't put big joke on the case yet.

Road trip.

Maybe ask about Vorayuth Yoovidhya, or not.

The commissioner is scheduled to return on June 16.

But another source said the mission of the police chief had nothing to do with the fugitive monk.

He flew to France on an invitation by the French police chief to participate in an arms and ammunition expo, the source said.

Their success rate for bringing fugatives back to Thailand is pretty dismal only wish they would put as much effert into catching ones they never mention !

Which bit of "it will take 2 months" is this guy having trouble with?

Or does he just enjoy airline food?

Hope he brought a big tub to fill up with sauerkraut, 'cause that is the only thing he will be escorting home!

The extraordinary efforts being made to get this monk back to Thailand would suggest the monk knows something that the junta doesn't want being made public. Two trips in a fortnight? Do they pursue anyone else with that much zeal?

Judging by the desperation to get him back as soon as possible, I rather suspect that whatever he knows has  implications which would dwarf the lottery jackpot.

I wonder what it is?

They spent 13 years getting Saxena the banker back from Canada. He should still be in jail. A rare success many continue to live the high & free life overseas when they really should be languishing in prison.

Some Thais seem to believe that Interpol is some sort of international police force with powers similar to their junta.

It is merely an information sharing and co-operation centre. There is no way they can help with the monk case if the German authorities are already handling it.

The holy monk will, of course, ask for Asylum and there's no reason for Germany to deny his human rights. Coppers and soldiers,, please stop telling others how to run their countries, please.

The Rolex monk?

a real big police effort to bring a monk back to Thailand. Do not forget the Red Bull guy, Khun Taksin, and his sister.

IMO, if Chaktip is unsuccessful in bringing back the monk, he'll likely be dismissed...unsure if the 2 Ps ordered that he go to Germany.

Exactly.

Got nothing to with Interpol and everything to do with the German govt.

And until they are shown some real dirt on the monk by the Thai Embassy (which I doubt they have), he aint going nowhere...

A quick trip to London from there to lasso BJ's facebook poster its what Interpol was set up for.

Meh. More likely one single influential person wants this monk back. Or, he hasn't kicked up the cut to those above him, so a lesson needs to be made.

All at taxpayers expense, lol.

Seems to me the people who actually control this country is showing the coppers just who holds the other end of their chain.

Ordering this guy to get the monk and ordering big Joke to actually become a joke by going after a non resident Thai for Facebook posts are essentially the same thing.

At the end of the day only the Army has the power in Thailand.

I'll let others ruminate on why these and not others.
