Me and my gf are switching from non-B's to ED's on Monday in KL. We have everything booked and set, all paperwork from school organised. But today the school called us saying that we need also to get a criminal record check to provide at KL, as one of her students (from Israel) just got refused in KL because they didn't provide one.  Me and my gf are Aussies, and I'm hoping that this will not be required based on our nationality and that I have not seen any talk of this requirement posted here... Otherwise I will need to get one from the Australian Federal Police which could take weeks, more likely we would fly to Laos instead to apply there.

Any insights would be appreciated, has anyone else been required to provide a criminal record check when applying for ED visa?

Did you just say that an Israeli was allowed to travel to KL?

They can if they get a visa and approval.

"Before May 2011, citizens from  Israel were not allowed entry to Malaysia. They now require a visa and an approval from the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs to be allowed into Malaysia.[10]"

Thanks guys, I appreciate that you take the time to help out. We have already paid for flights and hotel in KL so we will go and try there as it is a language school we are attending (thanks ubonjoe). Telly, our school said that she has had students rejected in Penang and to not bother there...

At all costs avoid this, & it depends on what check is required ( i will only mention this for the sake of it, as others are giving the advice needed )

1 - It most likely would not be a federal check - (maybe if required for overseas )

2 - The application can be done on line with payment $55 - BUT - after doing this you will have to go to the local police station to provide 100 pt photographic identification ( in person/within a time frame )

3 - It will take 10 working days & will only be sent to your Residential address

I just did one & now look to be doing many more as the more & more requesites from employers in Auss are beginning to put you up for thousands of dollars, with all of the documentation having a limited time to expiry according to the employers discretion half the time
