Govt allocates 20 bil baht to village funds

BANGKOK, 15th June 2018 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has revealed that the government has allocated 20 billion baht to the Village and Urban Community Fund Project, in a bid to create jobs.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha made the announcement to members of village funds nationwide. Each fund receives up to 300,000 baht to operate existing projects, as well as implement new measures to elevate quality of life and reduce social inequality.

Gen Prayut urged the fund members to educate themselves in budget management according to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. He said His late Majesty’s principles would enable local communities to move forward inclusively.

The premier expressed confidence that the village funds will be managed effectively and stimulate the grassroots economy. He confirmed that his administration had allocated the funds according to the long-term national strategy and the actual needs of the general public. He also assured fund members that evaluations of their operations will be carried out fairly and transparently.

Yeah right! More min-slush funds all over the country ripe for the taking. More Junta Party and PM popularity and potential buying. How blatant can this poiticking get?

Elevate the quality of life for those who administer the funds while increasing the gap between the rich and the poor.

And so the votes are bought... Nice timing when doing the `non election` tour.

Great idea Prayut, get the village heads on your side, then they persuade villagers that Khun  Prayut is the man to vote for.

Every village head now looking at buying new vehicles for themselves, as very little of the money will go to help villagers.

Like the government handout 2 years ago  when a pu yai bahn bought a tractor supposedly for the village, but only his family get to use it.

300.000 is nothing. I cant see Tambons swaying the way of Junta for the measly sum. Not enough to cover 4 years of neglect.

Malaysia style Landslide loss for the Junta in February. Like Najib, Prayut is playing the friend of the of the people and trying to manufacture a win which didn't work in Malaysia as the defeat was so heavy

I have never heard my wife or her family talk about politics,  but they are now and they want the Junta out

Is the trough half full or half empty?

Should read...

"It was decided that some lucky guys in gvt will get to share 20 billion bht with each other."

Free money for vote.

'money can not buy love'

People still not like Prayut.

He Frog-kisser!

Give me control over the funds for this village...and I bet it gets spent where it's supposed to be spent....

Not spent on pissups, and certain land owened by certain people....

It's not hard, it just needs honesty and thought....which seems to be lacking most times.

With you on your post. The Malaysia model vindicate many opinions that vote buying does not guarantee election victory. This junta make the mistake of overstaying and revealing so much internal corruption, execessive defense spending, intimidation and mismanagement in their 4+ Years that even moderates want them out in the shortest time and election to be held. History will not speak of P favourably.

So this is separate to Thai Nayom?

At a time when most agencies are under fire for mismanagement of funds it seems a really bad time to throw money around.

The ban on populist policies for future governments won't need to be implemented, there will be nothing left in the kitty to play with.

Complete the sentence, preferably with tongue stuck firmly in cheek to prevent laughing out loud.

Shameless vote buying.

And they accused Thaksin and Yingluck of paying 500 baht to people to vote for them.

What hypocrites!

Probably a top-up to the Thai Niyom Junta Party Electoral Fund.

Yes a bad time for the government to be throwing money away on unspecified country projects. But probably a good time for those administering these mini-slush funds.

While the PACC is otherwise pre-occupied investigating a multitude of large frauds all over the place there is every chance that embezzlement from these little ones will slip past unnoticed.

I vote for free stuff.

Thereby boosting the wealth of the pooyay baans, the Orbortors and the Nai Amphurs.

And doing bugger all else except encouraging all of the said officers (80% of whom are corrupt imho) to encourage the proles to vote for the military so the largesse can continue.

Well, there goes 20% of the budget - how to effectively skim handle and share in good fortune.

As a minimum all fund members should file financial statements before any funds are disbursed and audited quarterly by an outside, independent accounting firm approved by the Office of the SEC such as Grant Thornton, KPMG. http://market.sec.or.th/public/orap/AUDITOR01.aspx?lang=en

Vote buying using the taxpayers money, always better

than using your own.if it works and you win the election,

good, if you lose the election,no problem not your money.

:cheesy:

Nice little bit of election fraud, vote buying or whatever one wishes to call it.

However, 300k aint gonna go very far. Taking into the account inflation, Thaksin gave each village a mil way back more than a decade ago.

Cheapskates.

More millions and billions to steal yah!

Looks like a lottery if the villagers get it.
