Chinese investors are keen to invest  in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) as well as in Phuket and Chiang Mai.

This was disclosed by  Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak as he met several major Chinese businessmen yesterday.

Dr Somkid said a meeting with a top executive of a major Chinese auto manufacturer BYD, Mr Wang Chuanfu, showed the company was interested in several railway projects in Thailand.

And there goes any chance for a home grown Thai car company.  They dominate China.  They will dominate Thailand too.

The EEC Is nothing more than a dream. Having a slick and polished used car salesman style approach like Somkid trying to sell the EEC will probably have a negative effect. All the Chinese have to do is evaluate what the junta has achieved in four years, which is nothing.

Talking comes easy for the junta and the PM.... doing what they talk about is something completely different.

I think we will be 'living in interesting times'

I don't think you ever visited or drive thru the EEC.

Chinese will end up owning everything here and can couple that with being flooded with Indians and Africans too. Probably won't be long before we hear an announcement that the Chinese military are leasing a base of port for their navy. Seems the only country round here that sees what's going on and pushes back against the Chinese are the Viets...good on them.

Your quite correct, I haven't. Somewhat impossible seeing as the Thailand Eastern Economic Corridor does not exist. Like I said, it is only a junta dream.

This is only the beginning.....beware!
