Net idol Jessie Vard faces jail time for promoting gambling

BANGKOK — Net idol and model Jessie Vard faces up to a month in prison for allegedly encouraging World Cup gambling, police said Tuesday.

 

Phaya Thai police said that Vard, 21, and four other promotional models, aka pretties, confessed to violating anti-gambling laws while maintaining they didn’t know it was illegal to promote gambling websites on social media.

What's going on here is at best a shakedown (pay to make this go away) or at worst forcing the girl to have sex through extortion (if you think the Thai police don't do this, there are numerous examples of complaints of this kind and most victims won't complain publicly).

Someone here was commenting in a different thread the other day on this particular young lady's personal preferences (of which I will confess to being unfamiliar).

 

And if they were correct, let's just say, she might actually enjoy spending some hard time in close quarters with a bunch of other deprived women...    

I’m sure a few wais and some pictures with about 10 police officers in their big-boy uniforms and all can be forgotten.

It was me that mentioned that she's gay.

 

Having seen the state of her 'boyfriend' I've no doubt that she'll probably enjoy a few days locked up with  the odd Tom Dee and Bull Dyke.

 

No doubt the entire process will be splashed all over Instagram and Facebook accompanied with the usual pout.

You seem to have an unhealthy interest in young girls and oddly for a homophobic young man of 29 years clearly know your way around gay websites  Does your 'boyfriend' approve? Get a life. Commenting on somebody's sexual preferences especially a person you dont know is pathetic. And she was not prosecuted so no jail time. She's 18 years old and making a living. Behave yourself. And don't set about insulting me as you did previously. 

It does not look like she gets outside much anyway.   That skin reminds me of snow blindness. 

 

Make her do community service at a "Cambodian" casino on the border.  She can do something there.

I'd never heard of her, before she popped up recently in connection with the harmful skin products case and shortly thereafter the football betting case.  But if I recall correct, even though she's here in Thailand, she's actually part Irish, which probably accounts at least in part for the skin tone.

 

Us Paddies tend to be a wee bit on the fairer side....

Shes 100% Irish, both mother and father are Irish. Father is the famous Vard on the run from mafia thugs in Phuket. 

 

Curious what type of visa she would be on here in Thailand. Working as a pretty model at that. Also see she was convicted and sentence to onemonth and it was suspended. Deportation?

An Irish model sentenced to a month in prison in Thailand for flouting the country's strict betting laws is begging Tanaiste Simon Coveney to come to her rescue.

 

Beauty Jessie Vard has had her sentence suspended for one year and fined 1,000 baht (€26) after she was convicted of violating Thailand’s gambling laws by promoting World Cup wagering.

 

Ms Vard (19), who is originally from Co Wicklow, was one of six models convicted at the Dusit District Court of Bangkok for violating Section 12 of Thailand’s Anti-Gambling Act — specifically for using their social media profiles to encourage Thai punters to wager with online betting sites that have no authority to operate in the country.

Agreed. She's just 19 years old, naive and was paid the price of a modest meal for a photo. She did not know it was illegal said sorry and the police and courts believed her. People ignore the fact that she is also in Thai movies and has her own band. She just wants to go home. I don't think that's a crime? 

Thailand's really gonna miss her... if she ever makes it back to Ireland.

She has lived in Thailand since she was a toddler, Thai is her first language. She knows exactly what she was doing. 

 

She is just like any glamour model or 'pretty', the fact she is white and from an Irish background makes no difference and why should it? If she was a Thai pretty called Noi no one would give a shit. She broke the law, she pays the price and going by this article she had been given a suspended jail sentence.

 

Additionally 19 years old is an adult. She's a glamour model. Half the board members on here have wives that age. Stop making excuses for her because you are both 'Irish'.

I doubt anyone will give a <deleted>. Tourists don't usually list gambling illegally on soccer as a reason for venue selection.

She looks like the daughter of Colin Vard from Phuket who has been fighting a case of property fraud against ''allegedly'' corrupt officials and lawyers for return of his properties. 

 

She demonstrated in Bangkok for justice in her father's case which caused loss of face for those accused.

 

I think it was Andrew Drummond who publicized the case.

She is, but given she is one of six convicted, and the sentence was fairly light (suspended sentence and 1000 bt fine), I doubt there was anything personal.
