webfact
Keep guns away from kids, doctor pleads after playtime turns into horror By Kritmet Loho The Nation A Khon Kaen physician is begging parents to keep weapons out of children’s reach after a 10-year-old boy accidentally shot and seriously wounded a girl one year his junior on Sunday in the northeastern province. Dr Rapipat Pipatananant of Khon Kaen Hospital made the plea on Monday after updating the condition of the unnamed Nam Pong district girl, who sustained a gunshot wound to the back under the right shoulder. The bullet pierced a lung and caused internal bleeding, but by Monday she was in stable condition, he said. She would remain under a close medical observation and undergo mental health treatment to ease trauma, Dr Rapipat said. The shooting took place while the girl was playing with two boys, ages 10 and 11, at a house in Tambon Moung Wan. The boys too will meet with mental health specialists. The 11-year-old boy said he was pretending to be a hospital patient and the girl was his nurse, but the 10-year-old wanted to play police instead and fetched the pistol from a closet. He pointed the gun at the girl saying, “This is a fake gun, freeze!” and it discharged. The girl dropped to the ground bleeding and was taken to Nam Pong Hospital by the children’s grandfather and then transferred to Khon Kaen Hospital. Popular Post KhunBENQ
And what will happen to the irresponsible fool that put a loaded gun in an unsecured cabinet? Nothing is my guess.

Its the general mindset that is the problem, or better call it stupidity. Reminds me of the gym i used to train. Judging by his shiny shoes one fatass was a cop and one day he shows his gun which was in his gym bag (which is stored in a locker with a tiny lock while he trains). Needless to say all his 50 year old buddies gather around and the gun, with clip in there so supposedly also holding bullets, goes from hand to hand. In no way the cop would have figured this is not only dangerous, but also just plain stupid to do. At least i know where to get a gun if i ever need one.

Yes, surely he said that. A fake gun is a molded piece of plastic that only becomes fun when you pretend it to be real. In no way a kid would stress, during playing, that his gun is fake. Its a bullshit line the parents came up with hoping for a more lenient punishment as the kid was "just playing" and didn't mean any harm. Much more likely the kid was mad because the others wanted to play a different game, and he yelled something like "i shoot you if you don't do whatever", without fully understanding the harm he could do.
hansnl
Wrong!!!!! If there are guns in the house teach children what they can do or not. Secret things are highly interesting for children. From a tender age I was taught about guns and safety, never had the urge to play with firearms. Did the same with my children. Never touch, leave alone. And from the age of ten could shoot, very well.

The urge does not come into it, responsible parents should make sure the opportunity does not materialise where children are concerned
Popular Post SimonD
The prevalence of guns in popular Thai drama's on TV doesn't help. Young children must think it's quite normal to wave a gun in someone's face to get your own way... 2

Newscasters, especially from conservative outlets such as FOX news say something to the effect that they’re sending thoughts and prayers or suggesting their viewers should. Every thread on Facebook about a mass shooting invariably includes people who write “sending thoughts and prayers”. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoughts_and_prayers
