Rescuers about to reach 'Pattaya Beach' chamber of Tham Luang Cave

A little more detail...

The group had been forced to move out of the Pattaya Beach area as it was covered with water.  Each of the scuba divers had carried some snacks with them just in case they found the group.  That's all they now have, and more food will have to be brought in--a total distance of nearly 5 km. from the cave's mouth.

There was a group of navy seals, six of them, that worked together in the operation to reach the 13.  Four of them worked at setting up lines, leaving spare oxygen tanks, etc., while two went ahead.  The two left the other four at about 5 pm.  They had not yet come back by 9 pm, though the four team members had finished their tasks by this time.  Communications followed which gave the word that the 13 had been found.

Important note:

The 13 are not out yet.  They have no scuba training.  They are weak.  The water has gone so high in the cave as to already have covered Pattaya Beach.  They are nearly 5 km. out from the cave's mouth, and drilling down to them would likely require more than a week's time.  Rains are expected Wednesday.

Folks, knowing where they are and that they are still alive does not assure us that they will be rescued alive.  They are not out of the cave yet.  Some significant hurdles remain.  It is entirely possible that conditions in the cave could change, with dire results.  However, the morale boost this will give to the troops should give everyone a bit of a second wind, and help assure a positive outcome.

There's one thing that knows no limits in Thailand and that is forgiveness. It's right up there with compassion.

brilliant stuff, the assistant coach obviously took control of the situation, knew the caves well enough to keep them safe and has managed to get them to hold it together. Organizing the drinking of rain water and going to the higher cave has paid off for them, bloody great news, vert huge relief

An overwhelming team building success!

Air actually   not oxygen    and why do they need 766 cylinders they have a compressor to refil them

still looks impressive to the press

This is good news.

I was beginning to fear the worst especially after such a long time but considering they found nothing on the search the theory that they might have made it to a large cavern started to make more sense.

good news well done everyone!

Watching pictures on CNN now and sadly the photo opportunities for uniformed Thai hi sos has started while the real hard working underlings deserve the credit . Far too many people around all with mobile phones and constantly taking pics. Hopsfully the next hard part will go well as it's far from over . Finding them though !!! Well done everyone . Ohh and interestingly on the pics was uniformed British military along with American and Aussie .

Up to 85 SEALS plus at least 5 expert cave divers and maybe 20 volunteers doing 5-hour excursions through flooded chambers over a round-trip distance of (so far) 10 kilometers, so using or staging upwards of a dozen bottles each per day...

Oh sod it... YOU do the math.

They might even buy him real running shoes....?

Fantastic news they have been found, I didn't expect them to be found alive, unbelievable effort from all concerned, it's far from over, here's hoping all are as well as can be expected after such a terrible ordeal!

Reports are they have been told Fellaini has signed a two year contract with Man Utd so they have asked to be left in there.

I think the media circus will at least die down a bit now, as the interest probably wanes after they were found. Good for the rescue teams that will be able to do their job better without thousands of rubberneckers and posturing useless people around.

I asked the 3-4 sellers the other day and they were all sold out then. That was before they were found.

Fantastic news, I like many others I suspect was beginning to fear for the worse after so many days without food. I did think they would be ok if they managed to get rain water.

A huge huge relief, I've become quite emotional on the news. I can only imagine the relief in TH for the boys and families and friends. Reminds me of the trapped miners in Chile, a miracle ???

And they've got them. All of them.

They look surprisingly good and no shirts would indicate its not cold.

Yes.. all the doom and gloom people... look they are not cold, freezing, getting hypothermia, disease from the water and starved to death.  Honestly!!!

So happy they are found at last... seeing those rescuers must have been such a good feeling for them!!!

This same  picture has just been on CNN around 17 50 pm UK time so someone needs a good kicking if this is true !!

Sadly, the photo is not real. It's a photo from last year. I wish it was them, in a good condition like that though.
