However - it is the same office. As you would immediately meet the retirement, and it has been offered, I would seriously consider doing so for everyones benefit.

Can't tell whether the immi officer wanted some sort of registration papers beyond what is normal for small businesses run as sole proprietor, but all such businesses, I know about, must have a licence for what they are doing - and usually more than one. To get such licence is a matter of going to the amphur, fill out a form with address, name of owner and name of business. One pay 50 Baht (per licence) and gets a certificate supposed to be framed and hung on a wall where officials that might check the business premises (e.g. RD) can see it.
