Today I went to my local immigration office to apply for an extension of stay. Unfortunately, the immigration officer said that in order to proceed with the application he needed to see my tm30 receipt, which I didn't bring along (is this a new requirement now?).

However, my tourist visa will expire tomorrow and the office will be closed as its a Saturday. So if I go there again Monday morning with the tm30 receipt will I still be able to get the extension (without being fined for one day overstay)?

I assume you mean the 60 day entry from your tourist visa is expiring not the visa it self.

You will not be fined for the overstay if you go on Monday. After that day you will be fined 500 baht for everyday of overstay.

Some offices insist on seeing the TM30 receipt before accepting the application.

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, right. I meant the 60 day entry is expiring. I went to Kamphaeng Phet immigration and it seems that they insist on seeing the tm30 receipt not only for extensions but also for doing the 90 day report.

More and more offices are enforcing TM30 notifications. Be prepared for a possible fine for a late notification.
