I have a True Move number but lost the SIM. For a few reasons I need the number back but am currently in Toronto.....

Is there any way I can get a new True Move SIM here? I realise there are no True Move branches, but maybe another company could make one with their permission if I show ID etc?

Cheers

I don't think there will be anyway to get a new sim card while in Canada.

If you were able to have somewhere here in country obtain the sim card for you they could send it to you. Keeping the same number would require your written permission from you it the lost one was in your name.

Getting one with a different number sent to you would be easy for somebody to do.

Yeah I need the same number. Will.be back in a month so probably no need to send one. But if I could somehow get one here would save some hassle.....

"Sending" might be difficult.

I assume the SIM card is registered to your name (as is the law).

So as written above a friend in Thailand would need some kind of "power of attorney" to act on your behalf (incl. copy of passport).

Hard to believe that one can convince True staff to do this.

Zero chance in Canada.

The thread gives an interesting lesson.

If you depend on that number e.g. to receive OTP SMS for internet banking, better try to convince a person staying in Thailand to register it in his/her name.

IME TrueMove H will replace a lost SIM, free of charge, and map the new SIM/IMSI to your existing number/account. In order to do this, the registered owner has to make the request in person, and I've always been asked for my passport, a copy not being accepted.

I can't see how you could get a replacement SIM until you return to Thailand.
