Can a MAGA guy please explain how the Trump/Putin love-in sits with their patriotism?

This is a serious question.

I mean Trump has business in Russia, and he openly admires Putin so how is that OK with you guys?

I personally don't think the welcome on arrival was that important since he had already been with TM earlier in the day so maybe the low key arrival was deliberate due to the already heavy schedule rather than something needing anslysing as some sort of diplomatic snub.

Liking "trump" means liking authoritarian leaders. "trump" is a bizarre clownish one and Putin is an effective one.

Old hands realise we live here on sufferance.

Like it or not.

This forums owners would be compelled to hand over your data, if the junta come knocking.

Remember that.

Meanwhile if we don't like it, we can either complain to each other, offline in private, or buy a plane ticket, to our homelands.

And let's face it, most of them are overpriced, over-governed, divided, and unhappy.

And probably headed for a similar fate where criticsing the leadership will get you a few seasons in the cooler.

But I imagine more than a few people here would be OK with that.

Sad world, never thought we'd be dealing with the 1930s again.

I have been in Pattaya now a few days and am ready to go home !! I have been in such a panic and anxiety I have lost my glasses and can't see properly without them , I have had to lodge complaint with the hotel I am staying at . I have given you a direct comparison, one that you are aware of, because you are American. Here's another one. YOU can buy a property in YOUR own name in my country, Australia. Yet, we both can not do that in Thailand. So, a Thai can own property in their name in America and Australia, but we can not own property in Thailand. Do you see the point I am making? It's not reciprocal. Of course I agree with this. I have even pointed out that changes in visa laws may see someone unable to live in their own property here in the future. Once again, the point is, foreigners, including Thai's, can own in your country and mine, but we can't own in Thailand.

Okay, now you've actually provided something we can talk about. I'll concede that there have been cases where lower-court judges have found that the Trump administration failed to comply with court orders. So I'm not going to claim the administration has complied perfectly with every court order in every case. But that's still different from your original claim that Trump is simply “defying the Supreme Court.” Take the birthright-citizenship issue. If the Supreme Court strikes down one approach and Trump comes back with a different or narrower executive order based on a different legal argument, that doesn't automatically mean he's defying the Supreme Court. The new action can be challenged and the courts can decide whether that approach is constitutional as well. We've seen presidents do exactly this before. Remember Biden's student-loan forgiveness program? The Supreme Court ruled in Biden v. Nebraska that his administration didn't have the authority under the HEROES Act to implement that massive debt-cancellation program. Biden didn't just abandon his goal of providing student-debt relief. His administration pursued other approaches using different claimed legal authorities and regulatory programs, including SAVE. Those efforts were challenged in court too. Was Biden “defying the Supreme Court” merely because he continued looking for another legal way to accomplish his policy goal? I don't think so. He was trying a different legal route and the courts were free to rule on that route as well. The same standard should apply to Trump. If Trump loses at the Supreme Court and then simply refuses to obey the Court's actual order, I'll call that defying the Supreme Court. But issuing a different executive action and allowing its legality to be tested in court is not, by itself, defiance. And your Protect Democracy link mostly concerns disputes over compliance with lower federal courts. Those are legitimate issues to discuss, but they don't establish your original claim that Trump believes he has more power than the Supreme Court. If you've got a specific Supreme Court order that Trump simply refused to obey, post the case and what he did in violation of it.
