February 4, 200719 yr Hello all, I have been trying to keep up with the fine points of the new rules, but I am still not sure of my situation. I 've been doing the monthly visa runs for a few years, and finally went for a tourist visa in Penang in December. I left the country for a few months, now I would like to return. I have already used the 90 days (oct-dec), but does the tourist visa reset things somehow? I asked the passport people at the airport, and she said I would be o.k., but she gave me the impression she was just saying that. What if I was to get another tourist visa? Thanks for any help......
February 4, 200719 yr It depends on the date stamps in your passport if you used the full 90 days or not - I suspect not - but in any case you would be much safer obtaining a tourist visa and using that to enter. If you have to use visa free entry it may not result in a full 30 day stamp as you have likely used between 60 and 80 days of the alloted 90 day max.
