  • Why?   Would you say the same of someone who ignored protocol when it came to respecting his office?

  • He comes too late and let the queen wait.No education, no decency, no style and no decent behavior. Embarrassing simpleton.

The UK is a monarchy and the Queen is the current monarch and so is the head of state. Therefore, like Trump and any other head of state, she is due the respect and protocol of her position.

If Trump does not wish to give her the respect due her position then he should have refused the invitation to meet with her. An invitation extended, btw, by her in her role as head of state, not a personal invitation. As shown by the absence of all other royals, it seems this was a duty she would have preferred to have forgone; but she has always done her duty, no matter how distasteful to her personally.

That neither of you care for her as an individual or for monarchies in general does not alter any of that.

BTW, I notice that you have both avoided my second question, so will ask it again.

Would you say the same of someone who ignored protocol when it came to respecting his (Trump's) office?

I mean those meeting with him, of course, not those exercising their democratic right to protest against him. A democratic right many of his supporters seem to believe should be removed; for example

If you ask for respect, go and look to the British protesters

Over the last 66 years HM has seen it all before, has had to meet and be polite to unpleasant characters as part of her role before. She is above making comments about the rudeness of others; in public at least.

Unlike your current President, she doesn't take to social media to make claims, both true and false, about others, or say something in an interview only to call it 'fake news' later!

To answer your question about people ignoring protocol with the president, I think it's fairly obvious.   Look at anyone protesting his rallies, they are thrown out, sometimes violently and he offers to pay for the legal fees if someone roughs them up.

Then take a look at how he reacts to anyone politely taking a knee during the National Anthem.   He goes ballistic.   He can dish it out, but he can't take it.   I think the word for that is snowflake.

The protocols exist not for any specific reason but to establish respect and trust.   We don't have to agree with them, but if we want discourse to occur, then following them is how we facilitate that.

His missives toward the queen probably don't mean much to the queen because as stated, she's pretty much seen it all.   It does show a lack of respect for the nation(s) that consider her Head of State.

Elizabeth is the Queen of the United kingdom and therefore Head of State. And the Head of the British Commonwealth of Nations. My understanding is that Donald Trump did not breach protocol. I may not like the man but he was Democratically elected and therefore deserves the respect his Office Brings.

So seem to want to dish the Queens position but hers is an unelected and in my opinion unenviable role.

Who among us would like to live their lives in a Fish Bowl.

But She is My Queen and as such has my respect.

When I  read or see British people condem the President. I scratch my head and think. In 100 years. The Brits have gone from ruling a quarter of the globe. To renting an island the size of Michigan.

Size isn't everything.

Even Trump knows that.

Japan is half the size of Texas.

Singapore is about four times larger than Washington D.C.

California with the world's 5th largest economy is twice the size of the UK.
