Thailand takes off with green aviation: SAF guidelines
Thailand’s Energy Ministry is poised to unveil groundbreaking guidelines on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the final quarter of this year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). This initiative tackles the colossal carbon footprint of the energy sector, the top offender in global warming. With the energy sector spewing out a staggering 69% of total emissions—40% from fuel combustion, 29% from transport, and 20% from manufacturing and construction—the need for a solution has never been more urgent. SAF, a cutting-edge innovation, slashes emissions by up to 80%. Yet, its adoption has been sluggish due to its triple-the-cost price tag compared to conventional jet fuel. Sarun Benjanirat, CAAT Deputy Director-General stated that SAF’s potential was spotlighted when the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) backed it for boosting aviation sustainability. For the past two years, Thailand has been on a mission to integrate SAF, collaborating with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, and the Department of Energy Business. Sarun is confident that by next year, Thailand will have ample SAF supplies from used cooking oil, ethanol, and palm oil. He noted that blending SAF with Jet A1 fuel could slash costs significantly. “CAAT has engaged with airlines, SAF manufacturers, and relevant agencies on fuel blending terms and is awaiting the Energy Ministry’s guidelines.” While Thailand lags in SAF adoption, clear directives on its usage and emission reduction are crucial. Expected to present the SAF guidelines to the Cabinet in September, the Energy Ministry will outline the mixing ratio and a phased increase in SAF consumption, with an official announcement anticipated by October or November. In a pioneering step, Bangkok Airways has partnered with PTT Oil and Retail Business (PTTOR) to integrate SAF, targeting 1% of total consumption by 2026. Vietjet Thailand has also inked a deal with PTTOR for SAF use in both domestic and international flights from July, aligning with the global goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, as stated by the airline’s CEO, Woranate Laprabang, reported The Nation. Yes she should pay some money for lifts to work even from a "friend" if she doesn't want to pay then use her own transportation it will most likely be more expensive (and wet)..on further reading I think there could be some alternative arrangements made in lieu of cash 😋 -

Mother Seeks Help After Son's 4-Year Disappearance in Thailand
Japanese Man Who Went Missing Four Years Ago Found Dead in Thailand A Japanese man who disappeared four years ago was reportedly found dead due to sickness. His body was discovered in Chiang Mai, a province located in Northern Thailand, and currently remains at a local hospital. The man's mother, 66-year-old Yoshimi Nishi, arrived in Thailand on Monday, August 5, to find her son, Takahiro Nishi. She explained that she last heard from her son in June 2020. Subsequently in 2020, she received an email from an anonymous person stating that her son was ill and required around 240,000 baht (approximately 1 million yen) for medical treatment. A second email asked for an additional 300,000 yen, but Yoshimi grew suspicious of the situation and did not send the money. Investigation into Takahiro's past unveiled that he and his business partner, Maresuke Takami, had been arrested for embezzlement in 2020. They managed to bail out for 100,000 baht each, and afterward, Takahiro went missing. The pair's bail money was reportedly paid by Maresuke's girlfriend, Chonnakarn Katarat, who was later called for questioning by the police. Following a five-hour interview, authorities revealed Takahiro's death to Channel 7 news. He died around 10 pm on June 8, 2023, in a house in the Sansai district of Chiang Mai. His body was then moved to the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for autopsy. Police traced Maresuke to a rented house in Bangkok's Ramintra district and detained him over charges of overstaying his visa. It remains unclear if he and Chonlakarn are still together. The autopsy report revealed that Takahiro died of a lung infection. His body is currently awaiting contact from his relatives at the hospital. A DNA test will be followed to confirm the identity for the family. Following the timeline, an email asking for 300,000 baht was received after Takahiro died, hence the police plan to scrutinize the bank account mentioned in the email to find the sender. Additionally, authorities discovered activity on Takahiro's credit card at local hotels and restaurants following his demise. Electric Vehicles in Thailand
My ABB Wallbox is 3 phase 22kw. I only have a single phase connection so my maximum charge rate is 7kw on 220v. The box has the other 2 connections needed for 3 phase but I didn't put any cables in them. I think all the ABB walboxes are 3 phase 22Kw units.- 1
