I agree, time to let it drop. Both parties have made comments they should regret.

Mr. Musk has offered a carefully worded apology given that Mr Unsworth has threatened but not yet formally indicated whether he will or will not be seeking legal remedies and I doubt that you will hear much if anything more from Musk on this matter until Unsworth does.

But you seem to be stuck on sexual implications. People interrupt things differently, like judges and juries if the story needs to be told right.

The difference is that Musk has recognized and apologized for his stupid comments. Or rather, his shareholders recognized them for him and forced the apology.

 

This was seen in the wording of the apology, not personal but blanket to include said shareholders before he got his wrist slapped by them.

I agree he apologized. Prudent thing to do however, Musk never admitted he called him a pedophile nor that he implied that is what he meant.  And he never will.

Sure. Why do I care? Anyone who knows me knows it isn't true and anyone who doesn't know me how does that hurt me?  I used this same argument before that this guy's reputation stays the same. 

 

Again, in my view Unsworth libeled Musk and Musk has a whole lot more folks who know him or of him or his companies and the fact that Unsworth basically implied he was a fraud could make people who are stupid enough to believe it not buy from his companies just like the folks here who are stupid enough to really believe Musk believed Unsworth was a Pedo.  

 

Musk doesn't know the guy so how could he possibly know if he was a Pedo or not?  He couldn't so he simply said it as a derogatory term to make Unsworth look bad.   Potentially huge losses. Where is the financial loss to Unsworth.  Guy better be super careful before he opens up his yapper next time.  I hope they both sue. Should be fun.

Its quite clear what he said and meant , he has no need to say it again .

Just give him a compensation and move on. It was a terrible remark by Musk , and he must pay Vern at least a million .

If John Doe called Unsworth a Pedo to his face Unworth would do what?  Probably call him a name back or insult his mother maybe.  Would there be threats of lawsuits?  No of course not.  This whole thing is a joke.  The only reason people are bashing Musk is he is a billionaire.  Ambulance chasers see the money. And Unsworth seems to want a ride in the ambulance.  He could easily have just called Musk a twit and be done with it.

Agreed it was a terrible remark by Musk. However Vern Unsworth really did start the ball rolling as it were with his remarks about Musk's submarine and sticking it up where the sun don't shine. Now Musk has apologized its up to Vern to show how big a man he is and sorry back and shake hands.

There were many emails back and forth between Musk and his team of engineers and people on the ground including main Brit divers as well as Thai engineers. Including the one from the main Brit diver who messaged Musk to keep working on the sub but the bashers here don't wanna admit the fact.

Before Unsworth went on CNN and slagged Musk for a minute or so, high roller Musk probably didn't know Unworth even existed so it wasn't like his remarks came out of the blue.

Should this ever reach court, at least in the US, the Musk legal team would have sufficient other defenses available other than what is suggested above.

Elephant Musk had only decided to give a half hearted apology when he realised this is going to hit him in his pocket and hard, plus knowing he would lose any legal action taken against him, his so-called apology would make things go smoother for him in court. Musk has probably been advised by his lawyers to say this. 

 

A total and complete moron. If it were me I would take him to court anyway and make him put his money where his mouth is.

Musk could have replied "You can stick your snorkel where the sun don't shine", which would have been laughed off, but he didn't, he made a very serious accusation which zillions have read and had nothing to do with the rescue mission.....If that accusation was untrue then Musk must answer for it...

So Unsworth has now threatened Musk with legal action and apparently is at least in discussion with plaintiff attorneys according to another topic here so let's see where that goes as to what Musk "must answer". 

FLy like a billionaire and forget you were human once, there are a lots of them 

IMHO Vern stands zero chance of winning any legal action against the Musk M(B)illions.

 

The Tesla shareholders will (hopefully) demand a rather less wishy-washy apology with an undisclosed financial settlement to Vern. Public handshake and all forgotten in a few weeks.
