I have had a very strange experience last time I entered Thailand through Suvarnabhumi. I come multiple times per year to Thailand and usally on a 30 day VISA exempt stamp. But since the immigration officers at the airport hinted me before on the fact that its only legal to enter three times in six month I had a tourist VISA in my passport this time. Anyways when the officer checked me this time his monitor went red and he told me about the 3/6 rule again. But that red sign should be cleared as soon as I apply for and get granted a normal VISA. So I open the passport page with the VISA for him and pointed to it. Then he asked me openly for a tip. I was little confused. He asked what I am doing in Thailand and I told him about my girlfriend. Meanwhile he continued with the next traveller while I was standing aside his box. He told me if I help him he would help me. Long story short - finally I had to buy a bottle of whiskey for him.

Later in Bangkok I contacted a lawyer to get knowing how to deal with a case like that. After some information about the VISA process he acknowledged that the red warning sign on the monitor should have been cleared in my case. And when I pointed directly to the officers behaviour he went angry and told me that Thailand is not a third world country. I agree with him.

Anyways - how to deal with that?

The alert for visa exempt entities does not go away when you enter using a a visa. It never goes away.

As far as I know the alert does not come up until you have a total of 6 visa exempt entries. The count started in early 2015.
