Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha speaks Dec. 13, 2016.

AMNAT CHAROEN — Thailand’s past problems are due to the leaders its people chose, junta leader Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said Monday during a visit to the rural northeast.

Prayuth, who is touring Amnat Charoen province, said the government can’t be blamed for the nation’s problems as people are responsible for choosing who comes to power. He said this extends to the election of national and local leaders, adding that people shouldn’t just think about democracy or politics but choosing responsible leaders and eradicating corruption.

So Prayut says the people are responsible for who comes to power !! Is he for real? He and his cronies used the army (with bloody big guns ) to seize power illegally.

  • But the people haven't chosen anyone since May 2014.   Previously, the people selected the same guy twice before the army stepped in and buggered any chance of the people getting on any sort

Previously, the people selected the same guy twice before the army stepped in and buggered any chance of the people getting on any sort of "spot the responsible and in-corrupt guy" learning curve. They did the same after his sister defeated their proxy so I guess it is better just carry on as normal and let the army select the people's leaders for them as the people are simply not clever enough to forge their own destiny.

But as pointed out by the International Commission for Jurists the NCPO is responsible for "the laws, orders and announcements inconsistent with Thailand’s international human rights obligations and the legal system being misused to harass individuals who merely exercise their human rights".

But but the military was the government twice and a military puppet government in last decade; longer than elected governments.

Take your sanctimonious preaching to your buddy Prawit, your brother, Anupong, Udomdej and the mirror, you stupid corrupt unfunny clown.

He sounds like that other clown leading the US. Blame it on the others.

This moron has had almost 5 years to clean up & what has he accomplished? Nothing but more chaos!

But these washed up old crooked politicians are the very same ones who Prayuth's proxy parties are actively poaching (at great public expense no less).

How he can still beat the anto corruption drum while Prawit is DPM, Anupong interior minister, and his brother an NLA member. Also he himself never explained how his wealth (10's of millions of usd) was obtained yet.

Amazingly so many Thais still can't see what a shameless liar and hypocrite he is. That is a scary amount of stupid in itself

How many military coups?  How many governments working with their eyes on what the military will think of what they are doing instead governing for the people?

How many badly equipped and run hospitals, schools, govt. offices etc while the army are given bomb detectors, airships and tanks?

How many generals with their own units of house servants and workers for their companies?

Oh to see him interviewed by a true foreign journalist.

'Is it true you will allow an election where the MPs are all chosen and paid to do what paymasters demand instead of what the voters need?'

“.......people are responsible for choosing who comes to power”. Yes. Yes they are. Although it’s a bit late to be realising that now.

They see they know. Some are too scared to say. Others know but benefit.

Two post coup military governments and one formed in the military barrack are certainly not chosen by the people. Collectively they were the government for 7 years and counting in last 10 odd years.

Intimidation is a hard scary thing sometime. He is only big as the military follows him and I would trust only less than half at best may really follow him. The others follow suit as perhaps scared. I just can’t wait to see him and his group removed and exiled. He certainly has the funds to support himself if he ran.

Huh.  His comments don't line up with history.

But of course he's blaming all the country's ills on Thaksin and Yingluck - fair enough - but come on, dude, you have had ultimate Art 44 power for a long time.  You could just wave your magic wand and make all the problems go away.

Or it might be that Thailand's "problems" are baked in.

Well said...... was inclined to suggest similar, but you beat me to it!

Thanks. Glad to see we share similar views. Now if only the majority of the population would wake up & take action, something good might get done.

(Wishful thinking)

reminds me of Bart Simpson, "I didnt do it"

'blame -problems-on-past-govts'

555 the only problems I see are the repeated hassles and costs to the country;

when on multiple occasions;

 - a Govt at the time,

elected by the peoples' majority,

has been uprooted by the Forces supporting (what they fool themselves that the public don't see, are) hidden agendas

with any hope, the burnt overflowing pot , will be stirred again...

The usual junta flapdoodle which will galvanise the public into yet more apathy. More quiet grumbling but more turning up for the chance of a pat on the head from a pooyai.

A few progressive women and men are doing the best they can to raise awareness of what the public are having foisted on them, but it isn't working.

'Ah, but come the election!' one might argue. Well I am afraid that any election will change nothing, exactly as intended. The masses will put their X on 'Servitude' when all is said and done, so that's pretty much it, then...

The people were responsible for choosing who came to power However it was Prayuth who illegally took that responsibility away. There is very compelling evidence that the people have chosen better, more capable people in the past. As compared to the amateurs currently depleting Thailand treasury. The damage will eventually become fully apparent, but the signs are not good, not good at all. Conclusion must be that the alleged cure is far worse than the disease. Corruption is at an all time high as well.

Slight correction required.

All of Thailand's problems are due to the leaders its people did not choose.

I have said it on this forum before. There are many strong similarities between these two leaders (other leader being the "clown"). The clown electioneered on "draining the swamp". But instead, he filled the swamp, making himself Swamp King in the process. This one says "choosing responsible leaders and eradicating corruption ". Did he eradicate corruption ? This does sound eerily familiar. East and West !

But I must acknowledge that at least P M Prayut does not purposely alienate Thailand from its allies or threaten to make nuclear dust out of them.

Does that include the coups by the military. This guy is the messiah. I just can't believe such hogwash. ?????????????

Ohhh okay ,good to know all the previous regimes liked to collect watches too.

From where I sat it looked like money selected the previous leaders and promises to all !

How can people follow this guy ?  Blaming others this late into his time of taking power.  He is just so pathetic.
