Thai cave rescuers save baby and 13 others after Laos dam collapse Dramatic video footage captures the moment a team of Thai rescue volunteers saved a terrified baby from flood water after the collapse of a dam in southern Laos. The baby, who had survived for days without food was rescued along with 13 other people who were stranded following the collapse of the Xe-Namnoy dam. In the video footage, which has now gone viral, the baby boy can be seen being carried to safety by the rescue volunteers, who have been widely praised by people commenting online. The Thai team are said to have waded through miles of flood water and debris to rescue the stranded group. Speaking to AFP, rescue volunteer Kengkard Bongkawong said: “The boy is four months old. He didn't have fever but he was crying, maybe because of the cold weather. “The baby was crying and looks terrified. Actually they were (all) still terrified of the rushing water.” The rescue volunteers also took part in the mission to free to the 12 boys and their football coach from the Tham Luang cave. But are now helping neighbouring Loas following the dam collapse which has claimed the lives of 27 people, with 131 officially recorded as missing, although those figures are expected to rise. The Laos governement will never release the real figures, bad for business.
