Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha poses for photos Thursday with a group of young musicians in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — The head of a junta-leaning party said he believes he can do something no one has for the past 17 years – defeat Thaksin Shinawatra’s political dynasty in an election.

Neither Thaksin’s Pheu Thai nor its rival Democrats will snatch victory when the next election is held early next year, said Suchart Chantaramanee, who chairs the Palang Pracharat Party. He’s confident the victor will be his newly formed party, which is said to be poaching members from other long-standing parties.

And there you have it. Ridiculous photo.

then the country will not go anywhere positive for us expats; ultra-conservative,  heavily nationalistic govts will spawn legislation, policies and attitudes counter to us

Probably not going to be too hard when villagers are told under the watchful eye of puyai baans and army personnel where to put their cross on the voting ballot.

He looks like he's just seen Taksin and Yingluck walk out of Swampy Arrivals with a crowd of media and cameras around them.

"Pro-Junta party confident it will lead next govt.."

You can bet your life on errr against that.

The junta has turned a questionable politician into Thailand's only real hope.  Somehow, I do not feel Thais share this swooning sycophant's view.  Thais want something better than oafish, untitled general leading the country.

The new pro junta party look a bit too young for politics. Possibly more capable than the current lot, but still a bit too young.....with the exception of the lifeless wax figurine on the right.

just waiting to find the key to wind the clockwork again!

He's listening very carefully with his fist already clenched; Ready to punch the poor kids in the mouth should a few wrong words slip into the the performance.

They are hated by all of THAILAND

He looks like he had a few too many Hong Thongs last night.

The only way this tiny man will remain in control after the election, is if they can rig the election. His level os unpopularity is so high, that there is a zero percent chance of him getting elected. His days are coming to an end, and the entire nation will celebrate this. Mickey Mouse could do better work than he has done. He is a complete incompetent, a fool, a liar, and he is drunk with the power, the money he has amassed, and the adulation of those in government, who are all sycophants. He is completely lose, and has assembled an administration that is incompetent and corrupt beyond one's ability to imagine.

He is going down. Hopefully he will later be tried for his many crimes against the nation. Get out. Get out now Little P. You are not liked. You are not popular. You are not wanted. You do not love your nation. Your nation does not love you. Get out!

Totally agree,

In any free vote, the Shins would beat the pants off all opposition. The only way the current lot could win is at gunpoint.

(Not that I actually care who wins)

Meanwhile... his porky deputy is frantic as he just can't decide which luxury timepiece to wind to get Fearless Leader P going again.  :shock1::biggrin:

Too late to level the field now. Prayuth has been campaigning for months, well over a year, since he finally stopped claiming he wasn't a politician. Political gatherings are still illegal unless it is by a pro junta group. No way the field can be or would be attempted to be leveled.

Well, I think the dictators have a pretty good chance of winning the election, pretty good.
