Recommended Posts

Hi

best solution required here my  son has recently   obtained his Thai ID

He has a British Passport with the yearly Non O visa in

9 months rremaining he is also going to get a Thai passport thus not requiring the Non O

whats the best solution on not renewing the Non O or cancelling

leave the Country say to Laos and clear the visa

then using his Thai ID / Thai passport on return

or notify Immigration near the time new one not required

Thankyou

After getting his Thai passport he will need to leave the country using his UK passport and re-enter the country using his Thai passport.

It will have to be done by air since border crossings check for entry/departure stamps for the other other country when entering.

Thanks for the answer Joe is there any   other solution if he does not want to leave Thailand

That is the only option. He could fly out an back on the same day to do it.

Joe, not questioning your answer as such, but how come those that obtain Thai citizenship by way of naturalisation (non PR route) are not required to fly out of the country in order to cancel their permission to stay on a foreign passport?

Is there a difference?

Because there is a procedure for them to cancel their current permit to stay or permanent residency. There is not one for a Thai national to clear their permit to stay after getting a Thai passport.
