The auntie of a man awaiting trial for the killing of a 19 year old woman who fell from a truck has said that their family are poor and made no attempt to bribe the cops.

On Friday human rights lawyer Atchariya Reuangrattanapong representing the family of Nereekarn "Nong Ying", 19, went to see Region 1 chief Pol Lt Gen Suwat Chaengyortsuk to claim his men took bribes. He took the victim's coffin with him, reported Sanook.

He said that the family of the truck driver "Off" paid Bang Pa-in cops 300,000 baht not to pursue a murder conviction and make it look like an accident.

The lawyer has also called for the case to be transferred out of the hands of the Bang Pa-in force and handed to other independent investigators to ensure justice.

Nong Ying fell from the cab of Off's truck and died from head injuries. He said he gave her a lift.

It is now claimed that blunt force trauma to the back of her head occurred before she fell to the road.

Off is currently in jail after finally being arrested.

His auntie Sumaree said it was nonsense that they would pay a bribe to the cops. Neither her, another auntie or the estranged parents of Off have any money like that.

"Not one baht was paid by the family or anyone else" she said showing reporters what she claimed was evidence from her bank statements.

She said she only had 500 baht in the bank and was a poor seller of som tam and fried chicken.

The family have not even visited Off in jail yet - they were trying to get money together to pay for his immediate needs in prison.

They have not applied for bail either, she said.

Maybe just very lazy cops, take the easiest possible route to finalize the case and avoid work.
