A taxi driver contacted Pattaya police to return a wallet containing Bt28,300 in cash and a diamond ring to a Chinese tourist on Sunday night.

Chen Mingxin, 45, was so delighted to get back his wallet, credit cards and other belongings that he gave the driver a Bt2,000 reward in gratitude.

The driver, Jumpol Sahaya, 60, went to Pattaya police station at 11pm and told them that a Chinese tourist had left his wallet on the back seat of his taxi.

Jumpol said he had taken the man to an entertainment venue in North Pattaya road. Later, he picked up two foreign women in Beach Road and when they arrived in South Pattaya, the women handed over the wallet, saying they had found it on the back seat.

Police quickly located the Chinese man and duly handed back his wallet … and reward.

Depends where you are. Where I live in Bangkok they never fail to turn the meter on; dont have to remind them either

These stories are in the news everyday .Have tourist suddenly developed amnesia continually leaving valuables behind while travelling or is it fake news to improve the tarnished image of taxi drivers?

He was probably afraid the two foreign women who found the wallet would report him.

What about a little love for them. :whistling:

Pattaya taxi driver rewarded for turning on meter for Chinese tourist

vss.jpg

A taxi driver contacted Pattaya police to let them know he turned the meter on for a Chinese tourist on Sunday night.

Chen Mingxin, 45, was so delighted to get the meter turned on after only asking once without argument that he gave the driver a Bt2,000 reward in gratitude.

Sorry this is Pattaya forum

story about Pattaya taxi

and I have taken meny taxi in Bkk and almost all refusing turn meter on

in airport too

Having read similar stories almost on a daily basis the past year, one can conclude:

1. people bring extreme amount of money and valuables on taxis.

2. people are extremely careless and forgetful.

3. taxi drivers are extremely honest.

4.  the people involved appear to be extremely willing to tell the stories in media.

Does anyone still believe these fake stories? Now every single day a taxi driver's returning a bag/wallet with tens of thousands of baht to the happy Chinese owner...

I never travel by taxi in Bangkok or Pattaya without my standard size wallet with 500,000 baht in it, cause I know that I can always rely on the honesty of Thailand's taxi drivers, should I leave it in their taxi. ?
