Students To Be Prosecuted For Bursting Spleen Of Underclassman

BANGKOK — Police said Monday that three men charged with assaulting a university underclassman until his spleen burst would be prosecuted.

 

Third-year Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep students Thewarit Buasiri, 21, Anant Jub-akart, 20, and Samart Sukhontha, 21, turned themselves in and confessed to assaulting first-year Pawarit Rangsit, 19, in late July and will be prosecuted for grievous bodily harm, according to police.

The three of them beat up on one kid.  It will interesting to see what the judge thinks.  Confessions, depending on the wealth and how politically connected the accused is, can result in a mild scolding.  Their confessions will probably result in punishment not befitting the crime for almost beating somebody to death.

My guess - they are sentenced to jail time but jail time cancelled because it's their first offence.

The military cadets are an example to other senior students. As long as they can beat and sometimes kill 1st year cadets without impunity, then the rest of society will see it as acceptable. The army is presently the role model for thai society, so this is where young people are getting their cue. They all must recieve full punishment under the criminal law.
