PM moody with question about Thailand’s Asean chairmanship

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s mood obviously turned sour this afternoon after he was asked to react to the much-publicized commentary by an Indonesian newspaper columnist who argued that Thailand doesn’t deserve ASEAN chairmanship because of the current military rule.

The question raised by a journalist immediately prompted Prayut to go on a rant.  “No matter what, Thailand is determined to hold (Asean) meetings.  Or the media don’t want the Asean meetings? If (you) want the meetings, do not amplify the matter.  This is not an important matter – just a matter caused by somebody, some media.  Just look at their motive.  For what purpose did he write?  Why should we allow ourselves to be used as their tool?  Why?  I like to know.  What’s the point of asking this question?” Prayut shot back without responding directly to the question.

Thailand is scheduled to take up the chairmanship of the regional grouping next year but the Jakarta Post columnist called on ASEAN in his article to deny Gen Prayut the chance to chair the grouping.  “The Thai junta does not deserve the position amid strong waves of democratisation in this region,” the article says.

And here it is Thailand, your booby prize of a PM for the next 20 years.

However bad it is that he goes off like a firecracker with absolutely minimal provocation, it does at least provide some comic relief.

Fool, pure and simple. Pathetic

Well, those words are definitely the soundings of a man who doesn't care about the editorial! Jesus wept!

This is what happens when he gets out of his self-constructed little box of praise; faced with media and a journalist from another country that he can't control, he is unable to handle even the mildest criticism.

Burma was stripped of its Chairmanship of ASEAN due to its undemocratic nature; Thailand should face the exact same sanction.

Respectfully, Mr PM, if you don't want your credibility and legitimacy challenged, then perhaps you should get rid of your political ban and hold free and fair elections? Then, no one would question you.

Scary stuff...

It's a cunning plan to allow Widodo to stay in control of ASEAN forever. Just returning happiness to ASEAN.

I'm going to walk around at work today asking dumb questions like, "Do you want me to not pour the hot coffee on your shoes? I hear your favourite colour is blue - so why don't you like the sun? What did the sun do to you" etc. etc.

Bets on how long before I get punched in the face...

I think somebody needs to buy him some new toys, the old ones must be getting very dirty now after being thrown out the pram so many times.:cheesy:

Maybe he should just jump on a plane go to Indonesia and PUNCH the journalist on the nose, then with a bit of luck he could jump on a plane and disappear over the Indian ocean, same same flight 370 then every bodies problem solved.

At the very least, this charlatan might have learned self control, grace or at least of tact.  Suthep will have to work serious magic to get the spoiled bore elected.  The media controls his temper.  Says little for the Thai military.

Hmmm... I wonder how many dictators throughout history have been a "good leader"?  I don't think it's possible for that type of bloviating narcissistic self-worshiping madman to "possess positive qualities".  After all, what possible virtue could anyone expect from an individual who chose to illegally seize the country in an illegal coup d'etat?  And since then he has continuously demonstrated that he has zero respect for the people he rules.

It's obvious he will never voluntarily release his death-grip on the nation.  His daily actions prove that he's already hopelessly addicted to power's opioid-like high.  It is what it is and he is who he is.  The people will have to decide when they've had enough.

I notice the article doesn't seem to list any recipient of The Daily Punch In The Face Award.

What do think this is - a fair and equal society? Not any more, not by a long chalk.

Anyway, the queue's way too long already - or should that be spelt 'cue' as an implement of choice to be used?

Talking about awards dear Mr Prayut should get an award for keeping all us geriatrics laughing, as they say laughter is the best medicine.

He might be a useless leader but he is the number 1 best comedian in the country.:cheesy:

I take it that's dead friends - then he can hang on to them until if he grows up.

These three should make a movie together: Donald Trump, Prayut, and Rodrigo Duterte. Name of the movie: Three Stooges resurrected.

Ha ha, yes Colin! And Prawit is number two - as proved by his recent medical emergency.

Reminds me of the Bob Monkhouse line I quoted here on TV very recently:

When I told my friends I was going to become a comedian, they all laughed at me.

Well they're not laughing now...

Says the man who rules by absolute power and threatens to execute those who do not speak kindly of him.

He uses a snipping tool to cut away all vestiges of a democratic society instead of a shovel to dig a strong democratic foundation for Thailand.

Hardly the best leader of ASEAN.

I agree with the journalist! For the last four years is Thailand not a democracy!

a PM with PMS, soon to be replaced with menopause...

Maybe he's moody because he wants Thailand (and his military) to hold the chairmanship...well maybe for his lifetime. I mean, that would match his intent in Thailand, wouldn't it??

If his incomprehensible ramblings are anything to go by this man would represent a serious psychiatric challenge to even someone as notable as Sigmund Freud.

They weren't exactly stripped.  It was voiced on the same lines as has been said about Thailand taking the chair.  The feeling was that Myanmar/Burma should not take the chair because it was a military junta.  Burma voluntarily 'passed the parcel' and gave up the right to take the chair.   It's exactly the same scenario with Thailand.  Prayut should be duty bound to pass on this but of course he won't which shows him to be irresponsible and self satisfying.
