"Thai Banknotes" application will help people safeguard against fake notes

TNA reported that an application introduced by the Bank of Thailand would help the public protect themselves against fake notes.

 

In a feature about the subject TNA said that fake notes in Thailand are considered to be a minor problem with few reported cases and none in the news recently.

 

But no one wants to be a victim of such crime and it is better to be safe than sorry.

 

 

Information about latest cases is available on online forums and communities such as "Chum Chon Jer Beng Plorm".

 

Current information shows fake notes surfacing in Kalasin, Satun, Samui, Angthong, Prae and Chiang Rai among other places.

 

Traders are mostly victims - and the most likely places to find fake notes are in dark places like night markets, early morning markets or places where trade is swift such as on roadsides, in gas stations and taxis.

 

Extra vigilance is required in such places.

 

 

But a new app called "Thai Banknotes" is now available on IOS and Android to help the public spot fakes with the new Rama 10 notes.

 

Information helps people recognize the 3D ink used and there is a vibration function to spot fakes. The app helps people touch, illuminate and incline notes to spot the true from the false.
