Free legal advice again! This time for "annoying" smokers

 

 

Daily News said smokers are immensely annoying.

 

They forever toss their filthy cigarette butts wherever they please - they finish puffing and just throw their butts down there.

 

This creates work for others in clearing up their mess.

 

But did you know there is a penalty for this?

 

They asked online lawyer Ratchaphon Sirisakhon about it on Tuesday.

 

Ratchaphon - who has been giving the benefits of his views on how to sue over all manner of slurs recently - said that smokers who toss their butts in the street can be fined 2,000 baht.

 

That is because of the 1982 law 31(1) 54.

 

Recent free advice in the Thai media from several lawyers has warned against saying Thai women have small breasts and use of the Thai word for water monitor.

 

On the cigarette issue the head of the Pattaya "tessakit" (local authority) said recently that throwing butts on the beach would also be a 2,000 baht fine under littering laws.

 

The idea that it could mean jail or 100,000 baht in fines - as suggested by signage - was not the case, he said.

I prefer women with small breasts so if i say it its meant as a compliment and not an insult and besides Thai women come in all sizes not just small .

I can't wait for this guy to explain to us all why murder is wrong and what the punishment might be.

Generalisations again. I smoke, but I always look for an ashtray or dustbin and I dont throw my butt to the floor. However, I see others, throwing plastic bags, food trays and all sorts of crap away all over the place. Perhaps the criticism I quoted above, should be targeted at litterers in general, without whom we wouldn't have such polluted rivers and beaches.

Then the question is where are the 'Litter Bins' ? even Supermarkets appear to be unable to supply them.. come out from shopping = stall after stall selling things to eat and drink, but nowhere to put the rubbish..

I suppose the dog ends are normal litter and it's unacceptable to just throw them here and there. 

 

A problem comes when you apply such standards to smokers alone- general laws are for all, not just some particular cohort or another that you dislike.

I know how you feel because yesterday I saw a small boobed woman who I thought looked a bit like a lizard throwing a cigarette end on the street and I can't figure out how to report her without being sued.

I wonder if the slaphead could explain the ease at which I could have sued a rogue teassakit guy in Bangkok years ago, who tried to fine me for throwing a cigarette end on the ground.

The reason to sue him? I've never smoked in my life.

 

Thailand is desperately want to be like Singapore, clean, tidy and orderly, not going to happen..Annoying? there are million thing in Thailand more annoying than seeing a cigarette butts in the street from nasty taxi drivers to archaic immigration laws and everything else in between...

You can't solve one problem by pointing to something completely unrelated.

I always heard If there is no bin a real man would ash his smoke on the bottom

of his shoe and put the butt in the pocket of his dungarees for later disposal.

Well maybe the big malls could place an ashtray at the entrance??? Or they could even install smoking area's like on Changi airport.

Would have thought the biggest litter ploblem was locals dropping their plastic food bags when finished munching all over the place. Do they get fined 2000bht for that...Well no, locals get fined 500bht for slapping someone around. All sounds a bit crazy to me...?

One of the airport staff there, who was having a 'smoko' as the Ozzies call it, told me the PM at the time was an

ex-smoker and instructed them to install a good few as he knew some nervous fliers like a smoke to help them relax as did when he smoked.

The guy must be desperately in the need of clients. But the more he appears in the news with his nonsense, the more I assume his former clients all committed suicide. 

How about tackling litigation proceedings of innocent deaths from road accident ?

why dont smokers carry the empty packet and put their dog ends in it ?  -  because they are all anti-social

and smoking areas should be between  railway tracks.

What about saying, "She was at the back of the queue when the tits came round"!  Is that allowed?

Has he or powers to be ever considered the reason for smokers to throw away butts anywhere is because there are no bins around ? And usually every tree or corner turned into rubbish collection point.

Best he gets over to Lumpini park .. By all accounts there's a lot of smokers over there .. What they do with their butts is not clear though .. 

There should be a law against stating the bleedin' obvious!

Never once in your life you didn't leave a butt on the ground.  Doubt it.

 

Enough of the "But what about..."  You lose the argument when you change the subject.

 

Do you put a plastic bag over your head so the smoke does not blow with the wind and bother others?

In my case of smoking in Thailand for 7 years, only once, and that was because I was on the back of a motocy and the wind blew it out of my fingers. To this day, I still occasionally wake up in a cold sweat reliving that nightmare in my dreams.

Of course I do. I carry a plastic bag in my back pocket precisely so that I do not offend all of the other perfect human beings who have never done anything that anyone found offensive.
