The chief suspect wanted in connection with the murders of a man and woman at a tourist attraction in Chonburi last month has been arrested in Cambodia.

On Wednesday night, Thai police chief Chakthip Chaijinda confirmed the arrest of Phuket nightclub owner Panya Yingdung, 39.

Panya was reportedly arrested in the Cambodian province of Prey Veng on Wednesday.

Paweena Namuangrak, 20, and Anantachai Jitram, 21, were gunned down in broad daylight at Buddha Mountain in Sattahip on July 29.

Buddha Mountain slayings: Police chief confirms capture of "Mr Fat"

1pm.jpg

Picture: Daily News

National police chief Jakthip Chaijinda has told the press that stories about the arrest of the man believed behind the killings of two young people near Pattaya are true.

Gen Jakthip said that Cambodian police had indeed arrested Panya Yingdang (Sia Uan - Mr Fat).

Extradition proceedings are underway for Panya to be brought back to Thailand.

The chief said at national police HQ yesterday that a press conference would be held Friday at 1pm to announce the details.

Paweena Namuangrak, 20 and Ananchai Jitram, 21, were gunned down in a hail of bullets next to their rental vehicle in a parking lot near the attraction of Buddha Mountain in Sattahip on July 29th.

Panya is a leading Phuket businessman with interests in bars and many feared that he would disappear. He had fled to Cambodia after the shootings.

He is known to have had a relationship with Paweena or Spy before the killings. Daily News called Ananchai or "Fos" her lover but that was disputed by his family after the killings.

Jakthip was quoted by Daily News using a Thai expression that Panya would be taken dead or alive, as he earlier indicated.

My County - that's right COUNTY, has outstanding extradition requests for minor hi so individuals here in Thailand that probably could plea bargain it down to NO jail time, if they paid money owed.

But Thailand will never arrest even though Extradition requests have been made per treaty guidelines and protocol

Go figure

BRAVO !

So Cambodian police don't take bribes?  What's the betting he'll disappear to Saudi once the Thai police get hold of him.

I am guessing that this high profile request came from the an area where a lot of Cambodians currently are domiciled trying to earn an income.

They got the special health insurance for tourists fugitives: a notebook with names.

Mr Fat will be put on a diet for the next decades.

Hang em high....

Another rich fat brainless thug with a small ego and an even smaller willy off the street. Still far too many of these people exerting their threatening influence over society however.

I are debating who should be arrested in all these pictures. THE suspect yes but l feel there's another standout lol.

Do you remember a post just a few days ago about "Why Do Foreign Criminals flock to Thailand?"This post is one more answer to that question.......

It seems that 'Foreign Criminals' just fit-in so well in Thailand.......

They fit right in with Political Leader, Top Cops, Some village heads, Lower level cops, lower level Politicians, and the likes ot this 'Mr. Fat' business men..........

Lots of money but short on brains...

didn't run far enough after ordering the killing of two innocent people!

You think the Thai justice system can be relied upon to do the right thing?

He mostly likely will worm his way out somehow, instead of rotting in jail like an wounded animal for the rest of his life..... people with money.....TiT

How did that ugly little shit pull a girl in the first place, oh silly me must have been something to do with Wonga.

It was speculated he ran out of bribe money while trying to flee.  There were probably many different groups (smugglers, border cops, local cops, etc) he needed to pay to make it out and being caught near the border of Cambodia and Vietnam he nearly made it.

It's not always the money. There is also the connections and the quality of those connections !!!
