webfact
Nursery home dumps patient at temple after family fails to pay fees By The Nation FILE photo Ayutthaya//Google street view A nursery home in Pathum Thani dumped a disabled patient at an Ayutthaya temple after his family failed to meet the deadline for paying his care fees. Bedridden Somporn Noomsuk, 41, was found abandoned at a pavilion in Wat Lam Phraya in Tambon Wang Chula, Wang Noi district on Sunday. His sister, Supha Thaicharoen, 43 was contacted and rushed from her house in Samut Prakan's Phra Samut Chedi to meet Somporn at 2pm on Monday. As the siblings hugged each other and broke down into tears, Supha thanked the village head and everybody at the temple for taking care of her brother. Supha said he had suffered a stroke, leaving him partially paralysed and unable to walk. Since she had to work, she sent her brother to be cared for at the Ban Baeng Boon nursery home in Nong Sua district. Supha showed ATM slips to prove that she paid his admission fee of Bt5,000 and monthly fees of Bt3,000 but she could not meet the deadline for the August payment. She had not expected the reception home to dump her brother at the temple, she said. The Ayutthaya Centre for the homeless, which comes under the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, has since transferred Somporn to be cared for by the Krathom Phra Siri Foundation in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district. Supha has called on the authorities to investigate Ban Baeng Boon, which which she said might not meet the required standards. Samart Kasemsuk, deputy head of the Tambon Bueng Sam Or Administrative Organisation, said Ban Baeng Boon did not have a licence to provide care services for bedridden patients. He said he had reported the home to the relevant government agencies but no action had been taken against it so far. Samart said there had been several complaints of patients being evicted from the home and abandoned on roadside pavilions or in temples in Nong Sua and Wang Noi districts. Typically gormless and useless agencies.

Ulic
Don't pay the modest fees (3k a month) and then complain the nursing home was not up to standard. After reading about Thais not paying condo fees, school loans, (when they have a co-signer) and Moo-Ban fees, I am guessing she thought these fees were optional as well. Western people are notorious for dropping elderly parents at hospitals and leaving them to rot usually after taking them for every cent. 'Thainess' ..yes if you are an old unhappy disgruntled expat whose life has passed them by and they need something or someone to blame.
