Some 3,000 Muslims joined a morning prayer in Yala on Wednesday to celebrate their second most important holiday, Eid al-Adha (the Festival of Sacrifice).

Muslim adults and children gathered at the Yala Youth Stadium to pray on the occasion of the Hari Raya Haji day, which is celebrated by Muslims around the world to remember Ibrahim’s willingness to obey Allah and sacrifice his own son, Ishmael.

After the prayer, Assoc Abdullateef Karee, a well-known Islamic scholar and preacher, delivered a sermon urging Muslims to practice forgiveness for one another.

The participants then received food and made donations to orphans who had taken part in the prayer ritual.
