62 Chinese arrested over drugs

Featured Replies

Police in Preah Sihanouk province yesterday arrested 62 Chinese nationals accused of drug use and trafficking. Lieutenant Colonel Bun Sothy, provincial anti-drug trafficking deputy police chief, said the 62 Chinese suspects include 15 women.

He said the group was arrested after his police officers raided a Chinese-owned karaoke nightclub named Zhi Tong Fang in Sihanoukville at about 12.30am.

Before the raid, undercover police investigated the club for two weeks, tailing the suspects into the venue where they witnessed them using drugs, he said. “They were arrested after our provincial police forces raided the club,” he said. “They were arrested red-handed while using drugs.”
