I'm not gay but I still don't understand why people judge others on their sexual life be it it LBG or T.

Watch the movie on the life of the guy, Alan someone, forget for the moment, who was the guy who cracked the Enigma Machine code and as a result shortened WW2 and saved countless numbers of lives. He was hounded and chased and his life destroyed by dumb stupid people because he was gay.

There is not just "one type" of paedo.

 

Michael Jackson probably wasn’t a pedophile—at least, not in the strict, biological sense of the word. It’s a morally loaded term, pedophile, that has become synonymous with the very basest of evils. If Jackson did fall outside the norm in his “erotic age orientation”—and we may never know if he did—he was almost certainly what’s called a hebephile, a newly proposed diagnostic classification in which people display a sexual preference for children at the cusp of puberty, between the ages of, roughly, 11 to 14 years of age. Pedophiles, in contrast, show a sexual preference for clearly prepubescent children. There are also ephebophiles (from ephebos, meaning “one arrived at puberty” in Greek), who are mostly attracted to 15- to 16-year-olds; teleiophiles (from teleios, meaning, “full grown” in Greek), who prefer those 17 years of age or older); and even the very rare gerontophile (from gerontos, meaning “old man” in Greek), someone whose sexual preference is for the elderly. So although child sex offenders are often lumped into the single classification of pedophilia, biologically speaking it’s a rather complicated affair. Some have even proposed an additional subcategory of pedophilia, “infantophilia,” to distinguish those individuals most intensely attracted to children below six years of age.

 

Which means that many ephebophiles and all teleiophiles are acting completely legally in modern countries where the Age of Consent is 16 (like the UK). In some countries (I am thinking of Greece, Spain etc.), The Age of Consent was 13 a few years ago, and may still be. I realise that some places would prosecute if the older person was 30 or 50...but some places did not. One of the most surprising aspects of all this is that in North Afghanistan and North Pakistan, (this was on a BBC documentary) boys of 12-13 are "bought" from poor families by boy lovers who teach them erotic dancing and using mascara THEN allow them to dance semi-naked in special clubs, usually packed(!) and to be touched by boy-lovers. This may be due to the influence of Islam (no touchee girls), but this way of life is rampant, with boy clubs in every town.

 

A few years ago you could find boy clubs in Sunee Plaza, Pattaya, but as a "normal" gay who hates Pattaya anyway, I stepped into one of these clubs about 10 years ago but left when I saw boys aged 13 dancing for money. I was told not to worry about the BiB, because they were nodnodwinkwink anyway once money was paid to purchase tea.

What is not realised by the Pattaya Flog-Em Armchair ThaiVisa Brigade is that Turing led the team that broke the sophisticated codes for the German Enigma Coding machines. Once Turing had done that, we were able to read the orders given to attacking UBoats, plus their positions...and so we were eventually able to stop the Atlantic Convoys being sunk by about 80%. So the next time you remember that you had chocolate and butter by the end of the war, and that your Dad came home safely, thank a Queer man that you are even alive to sit in your armchair.

Actually I must apologise for going off-topic.

 

The whole notion of a "Christian" college holding a seminar which tells Mom how to prevent little Somchai from being LGBT is reprehensible, socially dangerous and morally wrong. This is 2018, not 1918, and Thailand has always had thousands of gays anyway, even many who worked in the Palaces, famous singers, you name it.

 

Most LGBTs are made that way before they get to High School. And, as JingThing says, a lot of research shows that marginalising and ostracising LGBTs does much more harm than good. Last week, a handsome, clever black kid (in the US) aged 9 begged his mother to keep the anti-gay bullies away and then, when he could take no more, he killed himself. Aged 9. What kind of sicko thinks that's good?

 

I wish that Peter Tatchell lived here. He would throw eggs (and much worse) at the seminar speakers. I wish I had Peter's guts in the face of oppression.

Homosexuality was declassified as a mental illness during the last century. Even the Chinese declassified it about 20 years ago.

 

Suicidal tendencies are present in all or any sector of the population and have a number of causes--depression is just one.

 

Suicide among young LGBTs is mainly caused by bullying and social stigmatism. These negatives are becoming less and less tolerated, and beating people up or even shouting abuse is now a hate-crime in many places. You can be fined and imprisoned in the UK for anti-gay behaviour.

 

Police stations in cities and even towns in the UK have openly gay and lesbian officers who police Gay Pride and investigate crimes by LGBT people in addition to normal police duties.

 

Paedophilia is a crime, although is not the same as Homosexuality. Most cases of paedophilia all over the world involve heterosexuals who abuse close family members (uncles and even fathers abusing young girls) . Contrary to popular belief, priests who abuse kids abuse girls as much as they abuse altar-boys.

Great post but I'm afraid that this is simply not true. The large majority of children involved in the recent enquiries were boys. A small minority were girls. And that's including the fact that men find it harder to report this crime than women do.
