BANGKOK, 3 September 2018 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan is confident the election roadmap will not be altered as the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) is looking into the possibility of lifting political restrictions.

Gen Prawit said the NCPO will hold a meeting this month to discuss the withdrawal of its order outlawing political movements and activities. Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs Wissanu Krea-ngam, will be the one presenting the NCPO details of the restrictions that will be revoked.

According to Gen Prawit, a total of six restrictions will be tabled at the meeting.

Their withdrawal will allow political parties to prepare for primary elections and the Election Commission (EC) to determine electoral constituencies.

However, Gen Prawit said political advertising and election campaigns are not allowed at the moment.

Lastly, he said the NCPO will continue to monitor political movements after the lifting of political restrictions in order to maintain peace and order as the country heads into a general election.

Well of course it is intact, it has spent the last four years neatly folded and tucked away in the glovebox of the junta clown car...

You don't need a map to ride the gravy train.

Is the good gentleman likely to be in the 'running', given his recent medical escapades?

Or have his hopes been 'dashed'?

Only place he runs to his is bank to see how much has been deposited from external sources I should think.

As a stand-up comic, this guy takes the biscuit. The best place for the mythical roadmap would be his loo-roll holder.

Ohooo - if it's HE who confirms it, than it MUST be true ...

More like control control control.  This man has never talked about freedom nor has the wet blanket abovee of freedom.  They harp on security like little old ladies.

About as intact as the watch's investigation which has vanished lol.

The intent of an election seemed valid until the Toad croaked....now one has to wonder if it really true. Once his lips start moving only BS is emitted so there should be real concern.

If only the public had been told what exactly is in the road map, we might have been in a position to judge if everything really is in accordance with it.  If the number of different dates we (and several world leaders) have been given for the election is anything to go by, we can take this latest announcement with the usual pinch (or block) of salt.

When outsiders decide whether the election, when held, has been fair and above board, I hope that they will fully take into account all the absurd restrictions placed on the Junta's opponents leading up to the election, including all the campaigning carried out by the non-elected present Government when travelling around the country bearing gifts and also on their extensive TV presentations.  The whole saga is an unfunny joke for the Thai people. even though, in their current apparent  inexplicable apathy, they appear to deserve no better.

Why doesn't Prayut, Prawit, and Big Joke just get on a plane and go away?
