Life with a Thai didn't measure up to the previous foreign husband - it ends in murder

Life with a Thai didn't measure up to the previous foreign husband - it ends in murder

A Phoo Yai Ban (village headman) told reporters how a woman in his area was always coming to him to complain about her Thai husband and the arguments they were having.

Her new man just was not keeping her to the manner that she was accustomed, Sunan,49, told Aphisit Surachartmethin of Ban Khawao in Korat.

Her previous husband was a foreigner who before he died from illness kept her in the lap of luxury.

Now he was gone she was left with 41 year old Hin - he had no job and neither did she and they were always at each other's throats in the four years they had been husband and wife.

But, as Aphisit related to Sanook reporters on Thursday, he still didn't believe Sunan when she came to see him to say that she had killed Hin by attacking his ankle with a kitchen knife.

He thought it was just another tale of their marriage strife but she did appear pale so he went with her back to the house to investigate.

There at the two story wood and cement house he found a bloodbath and everything scattered all over the place.

Hin was lying dead dressed only in shorts and there was a bloodstained knife some five meters from the body.

The Chumphuang district cops were called and Pol Col Chinkorn Jaikla took Sunan in for questioning and charged her with assault causing death.

Medics said that the five centimeter gash on the left ankle had hit a main artery and the victim had died from blood loss.

Aphisit added that Sunan had told him that Hin had kicked some plates while she was eating - enraged, she attacked the leg that had done the kicking.

Refreshing to learn that this time, farangs are not the scouges here and not to blame on Thai society ills, i mean it is not this is a huge surprise that Thai men don't make the best husbands but here's a newsflash, this is Thailand and these are Thai men, what you see is what you get...

It's the farang husband's fault.

She was only in her early 40's when he died and it seems apparent that he didn't encourage her to get a job. Instead, she stayed at home and sponged off him. After he died, any money she had saved or inherited, she and new husband blew probably trying to live "in the lap of luxury."

Moral: If your spouse is still young enough to have a job [no matter how much money you have], don't spoil them, send them off to work. It builds character and independence.

To be fair, if you didn’t know there was a major artery running through that area, it does seem an odd claim.

Peroneal artery. Runs down the inside of the calf muscle.

Had an ex-girlfriend here who suffered from Thalasemia and in conversation with the doc' one day he said it's surprisingly common in various degrees of severity here.

When she got bad with it would start to appear as bleeding of her gums and she had to start taking tablets to build up her red blood cell count. 'Perhaps' a combination of that and a cut artery would be a cause of very heavy bleeding.??

"Her previous husband was a foreigner who before he died from illness kept her in the lap of luxury".

And....She never thought of putting a little money aside in savings for the future? Somehow, many Thai women with an older husband/boyfriend think that he will live forever. As soon as the money gets into their hands, they spend it. Even when going out to eat, they will order 5 or 6 dishes for the two of them and only take a bite out of each one. Plus, she was Thai, and should have known that an unemployed Thai man would never change his ways. To him, she was the one who was supposed to keep him in the "Lap of Luxury"...Which in Thailand means lau cao and gambling money.

I think Thai men are a bit smarter concerning Thai women than the farang expats.

I estimate 85% of farangs in Thailand marry/defacto with prostitutes, rising to 95% in areas like Pattaya. I would think it would be a similar number for the ones getting married to a Thai and returning to their farang home countries.

I see a lot of comments here regarding the often repeated "frail thai male ego". What about the non existent farang expat self esteem?

In this case a Thai marrying an ex mia farang is probably going to be from the lower class.

Well she does appear to have acted as if she was very spoiled.

A lot of anti thai male comments on this forum. You hear a lot of the same from bar girls.

Why would anyone live in a country where they didnt like the male population? For sex?

To be fair, Thai women were advised by a former TRT minister that "if you want a good life, marry a farang". If you can't believe a politician, who can you believe?   ?

Can't be long and one gets the clever idea to open a "clinic for Thai women living with a Thai man" ?

Suicide maybe!

Pol Col Chinkorn Jaikla. Great family name for a policeman. Bet he wasn't born with that name.

Last thing you do is NOT TO PAY you THAI gf/wife or you risk she will kill you or at least hire someone to do it....lol

Sunan was also the killing girl in the Private Dancer novel, wasn't she ?
