I'm about to apply for an extension to my 60 day tourism visa. Previously, I had an ED visa. When I entered Thailand on this tourism visa, they gave me a very thorough grilling. I'm wondering if there are ever any refusals to extend a 60 day tourism visa at the immigration office.

Also, could anyone point me to the required documentation? Is it a TM7? I found this thread but it is 6 years old and the links are no longer working.

Thanks.

Immigration refusing to accept a application for a 30 day extension of a 60 day entry from tourist visa would be a rarity. They are routinely done.

Download, complete and print 2 sided this Fillable TM7 form.pdf and attach a 4 X 6 cm photo to it.

You will need a copy of your passport photo page, visa, entry stamp and TM6 departure card.

Thanks. That's good to hear.  The reason I'm extending is that I'm waiting for funds to be transferred here. I then plan to apply for a non-o and subsequently a retirement extension. Would you recommend writing that on the "Reasons of Extension"  section, or should I just write "tourism"?

Probably best to write tourism to avoid confusion.

Where do you plan on applying for the non-o visa? If at immigration you need at least 15 days remaining on your entry or the 30 day extension of it to do it.

I'm planning to apply in Bangkok.  I was hoping to do it before I needed to apply for the 30-day extension, but there was a hitch in getting the funds transferred. If all goes well, they should be here within the next 10 days.

Regarding the funds, the requirements page uses the word pension. I have income from a rented property.  I have a contract showing that a tenant will be paying funds to me for 12 months from September 22.  The amount is less than 65k per month, but I would like to use it towards the total, instead of transferring the entire 800k. Would the contract be acceptable proof of income?

Immigration will accept any income from outside the country to apply for the visa and extension of stay.

You will need a income letter from your embassy to prove your income. What they will accept depends upon their requirements.
