One of these programs seems to install a program called "HTML Executable HTML Runtime Viewer" in Add/Remove Programs when you use it. While I am sure this program is harmless and required for the E-books, its normally considered bad practice to install software without the user's consent and knowledge...

katana,

As you said, it is a safe Runtime Viewer which is only used for viewing the book or any other books created with ""HTML Executable". It can be deleted using Add/Remove Programs if not needed any more.

The reason it is installed is that each time you open the book it will need not to extract the embedded viewer from the exe again. Intalling once is better for your PC than extracting the viewer each time you open the book, which of course you will not be aware of at all. Many programs do install files (mostly dll) without any notice, sometimes for temporary use, but many times not, and you don't know where those file are (windows/System), and of course can't remove them.

You can read about the viewer here: HTML Executable Runtime Viewer

By the way, didn't you get any notice which ask you if you want to install the viewer or not ?

Thank you

Hi,

There was no install dialogue. That's what kinda irked me! (I'm using Win XP/SP2).

Anyhow, thanks for the programs. The numbers one has some nice sound files for tonal practice.
