Police are looking for a Lao welder after a burglary at a private residence in Samut Prakan ended in a double homicide.

Officers were summoned by neighbours at 7.30am on Sunday to a house on Soi Phetch Heung 23 in Tambon Bang Yor, Phra Pradaeng district, and found the bodies of homeowner Mali Imsawat, 67, in the bathroom and her granddaughter Issaya Perkcheuy, 12, in a bedroom.

Both had had their throats slit, as did another granddaughter, Aparat, 9, but she was still alive and was rushed to hospital.

The house had been ransacked and there were signs of a struggle. Valuables including a gold necklace and cash were missing.

A bloodstained kitchen knife was by the kitchen sink.

A neighbour told police he’d heard loud arguing from the house at 6am and then saw a bloodied Lao man he knew hurrying from the house.

He called on other neighbours to investigate and they found the two bodies and the injured girl.

The Lao, Phu La, 22, stayed in the same neighbourhood and police searched his rented room, but he had allegedly already fled on a stolen motorcycle.

The bike was soon found abandoned at a Big C mall. An arrest warrant was being sought.

The neighbours alleged that Phu sometimes stole small valuables and they had worried he might go on to commit a more serious crime.

Why does an arrest warrant have to be sought in so many cases.  What happens, they apprehend the culprit, then have to wait for the court to convene to produce the warrant, before Police can the person to the Police Station.

Here we have another case where the death sentence is totally warranted, and should be carried out without delay

Lao man arrested for alleged murder of Thai grandmother, child

By The Nation

A Lao welder was arrested in Mukdahan Sunday night while waiting to cross the Mekong after fleeing Samut Prakan where he allegedly robbed and killed a grocery store owner and her granddaughter earlier in the day.

Mukdahan immigration police were joined by troops in arresting Phu La, 22, while he was drinking beer in front of a grocery store in Ban Na Po Noi village on the bank of the Mekong River in Mukdahan’s Muang district.

Police charged him with the murder of Mali Imsawat, 67, and her granddaughter Issaya Perkcheuy, 12. He was also accused of slashing the throat of another granddaughter, Aparat, 9, who was severely injured in the attack. A pet cat was also found dead with a slit throat at the grandmother’s house, which doubled as a grocery store, in Phra Pradaeng district.

Police said Phu was arrested while waiting for a boat to smuggle him back to Laos.

He smiled for the cameras after his arrest, calmly admitting to police that he had indeed committed the crimes and had acted alone.

He said had taken a methamphetamine pill and got the idea of stealing cash from the old woman while he was high. He said he was a regular customer at the store and believed the old woman had a lot of cash with her.

He said he entered the house at about 3 am and spotted the cat. It was miaowing loudly so grabbed a knife from the kitchen and “tested its sharpness” on the cat, slashing its throat.

He said that Mali woke up to find him ransacking the house so he slashed her throat three times. The nine-year-old girl came out of the room and saw him clearly so he slashed her throat as well before ransacking the bedroom and using the knife on the other girl.

Phu La said he then took a taxi motorcycle from the mouth of the soi to Big C’s Phra Pradaeng branch and picked up a taxi to Morchit Bus Terminal. He then bought new clothes to change into, leaving his old blood-stained clothes in a toilet.

The Lao man said he paid a bus driver Bt1,000 to smuggle him into Mukdahan, saying he had no travel documents and wanted to go back to Laos.

He reached Yasothon at 2pm and the bus driver took him to sell a gold necklace he stole from the old woman for Bt7,500. He gave Bt300 to the bus driver who took him to buy a ticket to Mukdahan. He reached the northeastern border province at 7.30pm.

He then hired a tuk-tuk driver for Bt1,200 to take him back to Laos, explaining he had had no ID card. The tuk-tuk driver delivered him to the grocery store and he was arrested while waiting for a boat arranged by the tuk-tuk driver.

Picture Daily News

Immigration police in Mukdahan have announced the arrest of a 22 year old Laotian man for the brutal slayings of a grandmother and her twelve year old grandchild in Prapadaeng on Saturday night.

Phula from Phonsim, Savannakhet, Laos was casually drinking beer waiting for a ferry across the Mekhong River.

The story of the crime and his flight was recounted by Daily News today.

Around 3am he had entered the home of the grandmother whose shop he frequented regularly.

He said he had taken one Ya Ba and believed she would have plenty of money on the premises and he knew she wore a gold necklace.

As he entered the property the woman's pet cat started mewling - he tried out the kitchen knife he had with him by cutting up the cat first.

Then he started rifling through the lady's possessions. She woke and confronted him and he slashed her in the neck until she fell dead.

Her grandchild then confronted him and fell after they were slashed in the neck.

Another 12 year old child was murdered in her bed as he ransacked the property.

He then took a motorcycle taxi from the end of the soi than a taxi to Mo Chit bus station. At Mo Chit he bought new clothes and dumped his bloodstained ones in the toilets.

He told the driver of a tour bus that he had no ID and he was allowed to sit next to the driver for a 1,000 baht payment.

In Yasothon someone on the bus helped him get 7,500 baht for the sale of some gold. He paid that person 300 baht for their help.

He then moved on to Mukdahan where he arrived at 7.30pm Sunday. He paid a samlor driver 1,200 baht to arrange for him to be taken over the river without ID.

He had consumed six beers waiting for the ferry when he was arrested.

He has been taken back to Bangkok to face charges.

It just goes to show how much respect and value the price of life is in Thailand.uneducated junkies are now a growing problem here.with bigger drug hauls being found all the time it's now a plague on a country who through the corruption have let it get out of hand.i can't believe they were talking about legalising hard drugs.if this drug was legal he may very well still committed the murders as he was out of it and wanted money and not just for 1 more yabba tablet.i would like to hear from the legalise drugs liberals have got to say on this one...

Unquestionably, Thailand does have a serious substance abuse problem. But so does many other highly developed countries, ie the one I live in and the one 10 times the size, south of the border.

Quite simple.. alcohol is a drug and causes loads of violence.. but many can handle it. Its legal.. so why should drugs like marijuana not be legal. I guess people who never used other drugs than alcohol have no clue ho it works.

I have done my fair share of drugs and never killed someone, given the large amount of drugs in this country if people really started to kill after use... the streets would be bloody. That is not the case. Do you have any idea how much drugs are used.. its huge... its everywhere.. and guess what murders are not everywhere. You sometimes read stuff like this but I also read about people killed in fights because of alcohol. Its an exception it does happen but is not the rule.

Anyway this guy should be locked up and never let out.. real bad crime I hope he never gets out.

wish thailand has singapore style punishments....I'm always amaze how fast police can catch criminals like this, but can never find those hiso or politicians fleeing.

That is because they know exactly where they are, what they are doing, and who is with them. It is called being paid off.......

Double murder should get 2 life sentences + 20 years for the attempted murder of the 9 yr old little girl and absolutely no chance of parole ever .

Disagree, no mercy shown to the victims none should be shown to him!

Backroom injection... next case!

Hardly a week passes without yet another horror story in the Thai media involving murder and mayhem by an unhinged ya ba addict.

Knowing this, how can the government even be considering decriminalising the drug infamous for causing aggressive and violent behavior such as that in this appalling latest incident?

This would be an act of political cowardice and capitulation to the drugs barons, and almost certainly lead to an increase in ya ba use and further victims of drug-fuelled savagery.

It would also confirm our worst suspicions about the true priorities of the political establishment.

The overwhelming majority of ya ba users, as well as the victims of their meth-charged attacks, can be found among the overpopulated lower echelons of Thai society. The same goes for the thousands of convicted users and small-time dealers languishing in the country's overcrowded prisons.

At root, the ya ba plague is a problem of the poor and disadvantaged, not of the elite from which Thailand's political class is drawn. Nobody, you can bet, is pushing ya ba outside their hi-so children's exclusive private schools.

That's a "Meth smile" folks, hope you never get to see one in your home. So sad, so many hard working poor, 12 & 9 year olds going to school, NO THAI FATHER. too familiar a story, killer out in a few years and sent back to Laos  (hopefully with a sack of heavy bricks tied around his neck)

The war on drugs is lost!
So all they can do is minimise the damage.
This includes in my opinion shifting police forces on these problematic drugs such as Yaba and not harass Cannabis or Kratom users.

But how many of the 25000 or so killed each year on the roads in Thailand can be attributed to drink and drugs.?
