US Medicare

I really don't understand Medicare.  The whole thing totally confuses me and what I'm reading online does not make it clearer.  If I'm over 65 can I or can I not sign up for Medicare while living overseas.  Yes, I understand that Medicare is only good in the US, but -  can you sign up while living in Thailand, or do you need to travel back to the US to sign up in person.  I didn't sign up because I didn't think I could without traveling back to the US.  That's from what I read online. But someone recently told me that's not correct.  If you can sign up while overseas, where and how because I'm still totally confused.

I assume you are already enrolled in part A since that is automatic if you are already receiving social security payments.

If not info is here. https://secure.ssa.gov/iClaim/rib

For part B info is here: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Medicare.html

I am sure you can apply for part B while out of the country.

A few months before my 65th birthday the SSA sent me a letter to my address here with my medicare card effective on my birthday and a application form for part B.
