A policeman was killed and four villagers were injured in an apparent ambush by insurgents in Yala's Raman district on Wednesday.

Tha Thong police in Raman were alerted at 5.05pm about the attack on the pickup truck at the boundary between Raman and Pattani's Thung Yang Daeng district.

When police and an Army unit arrived at the scene they found Pol Senior Sgt Maj Somjit Chudam, 41, a Muang Yala policeman, dead in the driver's seat.

The four injured villagers were identified as Thaworn Phetchoengchum, Nipon Chanmanee, Suwit Panthong, and Sompit Suklangthuan. They were taken to Rama Hospital.

Two other villagers, Charoon Renunuan and Thuan Ratanakhiri, who were not injured, told police that they were returning home from hunting a wild boar in a forest in Ban Jarang Tadong village when a group of men opened fire on them from the roadside forest.

They said the policeman and the villagers returned fire and the attackers fled after a brief gunfight.

Is there a single country in the world who never had any problem with the Extremist Muslims, I said extremists, for there are millions of peaceful Muslims everywhere. The Muslims themselves should try to do more, their clergy should be clear, the terrorists cannot be good Muslim, so any Muslim cannot help them, hide them, feed them or simply approved them!:coffee1:

The problem is that the "moderate" Muslims (if there is such a thing) turn a blind eye to the extremists as they are sh&t scared of them too, and refuse to denounce them because of this, thus through that tacitly condone them. Wherever you find Muslims you find extremists, conflict, intolerance and problems and we are starting to see this in traditionally Christian places now due to rampant immigration. Just how it is, as they can't deal with other people's personal opinion or freedom due to their brainwashing. Try being a Christian or Buddhist in Saudi or Iran...lol, good luck with that and even the so-called moderate Muslim countries, like Malaysia etc., are becoming less so all the time. The secondary problem is the clerics and their abuse of power plus their hate of the infidel with their desire to live in the dark ages or under heavy repression of all (especially women)....their hate and contempt for us is hardly concealed. Nostradamus may well be correct in his quatrains about the war starting in the Middle-East as it is a powder keg of religious divide and cultural difference that has nothing other than contempt and hate for each other...even between Muslims of differing beliefs (Sunni vs Shia etc. and all the other off-shoots like Yazid and others). Then, on top of that, throw into the mix the Americans, Russians and Israelis...potent indeed.
