Somchai wearing jacket 13 takes a leak and falls under Bangkok train - but lives to tell the tale!

Motorcycle taxi rider Somchai Sotsaidao will have a story to tell his grandchildren after he fell in front of a train while urinating on the tracks in the Makkasan area of Bangkok.

Somchai, 34, had parked his bike on Rama 7 road and vaulted a barrier to go and relieve himself.

But he was so drunk that he fell on the tracks just at the moment the 4107 train approached.

The eight carriage container train from Bang Sue to Lat Krabang went over him as he crouched under the wheels for dear life.

It screeched to a halt and rescue services found Somchai severely injured but alive under the seventh carriage.

His left hand had almost been detached but he was still with us and then taken to Ratchawithi Hospital.

A man in the area heard the train brake suddenly and rushed to the scene where he heard Somchai's remarkable brush with death.

Somchai was wearing his orange "win" jacket number 13. He is a rider in the Pattanakarn 25 area.

Daily News said somewhat poetically that his "brush with the Iron Horse was the stuff of the movies".

Was it in a P free area?

Drunk and on duty as a motorbike taxi man. Seems to be the norm in Thailand.

Only last week I seen a Tuk Tuk guy shouting at some Japanese tourist about how much it was going to cost, they declined, as I walked back past him 5 minutes later he was topping up his leo glass.

The term Somchai is racist as is

'Rastus' for black people or 'Paddy' for Irish people.

Lightweight...if he was properly drunk he wouldn't have noticed the train.

Would it be racist to call a black person "Rastus" if his name was actually Rastus or the Irishman "Paddy" if his name was Paddy?

This man's name is Somchai.

Scumbag drink rider, luckily stopped before causing misery to others. I hope he reflects on his injuries and changes his attitude. Cant stand these drunk drivers, they p#ss me right off.

If his name had been anything other than Somchai, it wouldn't have been used in the first word of the headline for comic effect.

He only used the right hand to drive anyway, so he's had the left surgically replaced by a beer holder.

That's something only the Daily News, not you, would know about.

Once a monkey-brained Somchai, always a monkey-brained Somchai.
Unfortunately, there are millions more like him.

He was not urinating, he was stroking

stroking in the face of death is a folk tradition that is believed to prolong life and increase "vitality"

this is is the stuff dreams are made of.
