Visa Info needed

Featured Replies

Need some advice please.I shall be retiring from my job in the Middle East in January 2019 and wish to spend up to 3 months or so in Thailand before returning to the UK (EU passport). The purpose of my visit is purely touristic, absolutely no work related activities

The idea is to enter through BKK that will give me 30 days stay in Thailand. I will probably spend some of this time in Phuket. My questions are:

Can I extend my 30 days visit visa for an additional 30 days at the imm. office in Phuket (1st extension)?

Am I permitted to extend an additional 30 days (if necessary) at another imm. office (2nd extension)?

If I were in the UK I would simply go for a 90 tourist visa before travelling-not possible in this case. I have many Thai stamps in my passport, spread out as I used to visit for very much shorter periods for R&R purposes. Flight ticket out of Thailand, reserved hotel bookings and ample funds are always held.

Thanks.

Assuming you enter visa-exempt - to get up to 90-days, you could either go out and back across the border for a visa-exempt entry after your first extension, or go out for a Tourist Visa from a nearby consulate and skip getting any extension.

Funds to show immigration upon entry, if asked: Best to have 20K Baht or more in cash or travelers checks (rules for visa-exempt say 10K Baht, but more is better).  Get the money before you board the plane, as there are no ATMs available between the airplane and immigration, and plastic is not accepted as proof (pretend it is 1975).

If your previous trips were short, you will likely not be asked to show anything, but best to always be prepared.

You can get a 30 day visa exempt entry and extend it one time at a immigration office.

After that you would have to leave and re-enter the country to get a new 30 day visa exempt entry by air or land.

Only one 30 day extension is allowed.

There is no 90 day Tourist Visa.

A TV allows you to stay for 60 days, which you can extend for another 30 days.

Thank you guys that clarifies the situation. Doing a visa run for the second 'extension' would be no problem.
