Set up a direct debit, we have a single bank account for all the utility bills and it's worked very well indeed for a few years now, there's never a problem, water, electric, internet, phone, Truevision, Social Security, they all get paid that way.

Same thing I did in America it just takes a little more setting it up here.  My wife hated the idea and could not understand why she couldn't just jump on the motoorycle and take care of it.  Now she looks forward to the SMS "ding ding" notifications.  She now understands and appreciates that we can go on long trips without worry.

You don't need to know, with a direct debit the water company takes the amount of the bill out of your account and you can always reconcile this afterwards at a later date if you wish.

what bank do you use. Bangkok Bank does not list water as a utility.

I am in Hua Hin and I am looking at my water bill. It is completely in Thai including the name of the Water company. Is there more than one water company in Thailand?

I pay my water bill here in Hua Hin at the water company. Sort of like a going back fifty years as everything is on paper and index cards in boxes in front of the people you give the money to. No computers. The office looks like it has not been remodeled in decades. Also paper water bill has no bar codes or any way to scan it. My SBC bank app seems to think I should be able to scan my water bill. Cannot be done.  so i am thinking there is more than one company.

The electric company on the other hand is very modern and they speak English. And the paper bill is also in English.

OK. but since the bill is in Thai and the name of the company is a secret :clap2: this may require a Thai to help out the first time. I guess I can guess at the customer/account number number.

We use KTB and pay a small fee for direct debit every month.  I don't know what bank has no fee or has it listed as a utility.

We had to get paperwork from PWA, go to KTB, and come back to PWA with the paperwork.  The same as we did PEA.

Bank Fees: Kasikorn charges 10 baht per direct debit per month, we spend 50 baht a month to have all our bills paid this way and it's well worth it.

I use Bangkok Bank and have just set it up. Go to a branch of your bank, fill a few forms in, receive a form from the bank and take it to the local water suppliers office. They then set everything up.

Lots of "Mai kowjai's" and blank looks everywhere, of course, but it only took me a few hours to sort it.

You can pay it at any 7/11.

I have paid by Direct Debit for years but I NEVER receive a water bill. I suspect it is because my meter is an old manual (non-smart) type that has to be visually read by the 'meterman' who logs the reading to take back to his office.

Because of this part of my morning routine is to read the meter and record it in a Water diary.

Our meter reader comes round and reads the numbers and enters them into a handheld device which then prints a bill, he then leaves that in our mailbox, I've never seen a smart water meter in Thailand.

When we bought our house it had been empty for a couple of years so the water meter had barely moved in that time. When we moved in we started to use the water normally but the meter finally gave up, all the numbers became misaligned yet the meter reader continued to try and make sense of them. Eventually, we complained to the water company, the catalyst was that we suddenly received a large bill that we felt was wrong. The water company said they would send an engineer out to inspect the meter but we would have to lodge a two hundred baht deposit, if the engineer agreed the meter was broken we'd get our two hundred baht back, if not, we wouldn't. Well the engineer came out and he did agree the meter was stuffed so it was replaced and we got our 200 baht back, the previously large incorrect bill however was history and the water company wouldn't even consider a refund, despite our normal usage of 6 or 8 cubic meters allegedly jumped to 26 cubic meters!
