Huh? 21 in 1982? It took Reagan most of his Presidency to get States to switch to 21. Was MD an early adapter?

Seriously?

Maryland. 1982.

Next …

A bit of a smokescreen to appease the mathematically challenged red neck Republicans...

"1982: Raised to 21 with grandfather clause for those born June 30, 1964 or earlier" so there we have it, he was born February

                                                        . . . 1965

The FBI are going to go after:

Kavanaugh’s ‘wingman’ Mark Judge (He’ll cut a deal against Kavanaugh but still do time himself).

Kavanaugh’s multiple counts of Purjury before The Senate, both for this appointment and for his previous appointment to the appellate court.

Kavanaugh’s perjured financial declaration to the Senate.

Kavanaugh’s ‘disappearing’ debts, where he managed to find the deposite for his house (at a time when he was in debt), where he found the $92,000 membership fee for his country club.

Tax and corruption charges relating to the above.

Kavanaugh’s gambling, alcohol and drug usage.

Kavanaugh’s (alleged) sex crimes.

His life as he knows it is over.

But has not Trump given the FBI only one week to report back?

Hardly time to down a doughnut and coffee, and knock on the first door...

And ...

The White House has instructed the FBI to question two women who have alleged sexual misconduct by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

But the parameters of the new and limited FBI probe don’t include interviewing Julie Swetnick, a third accuser who alleged this week that he was at a party decades ago where she was gang-raped.

Wars seem a good way to get people's minds off domestic problems.

And to get the minds of the citizens off "their personal problems". The current POTUS is certainly a prime example of that thinking. Keep watching this "reality show". He's doing a pretty good job of raising tensions around the world.

You didn't read the article on the right where it states drinking age in Maryland was 21 not 18 when Kavanaugh was a senior?

The "fat orange potus" doesn't care what the people want. He and is band of highly biased senators just want their pick of highly biased judges at any cost.

Neither he or his cronies demonstrate any respect for women's rights.

We'll see !

Good, the investigation should have already occurred, but better late than never.

This is a terribly difficult situation and I don't envy the Senators who have to make the final decision. Further, this is evidence of what we all already knew; the US political system and institutions are reaching a critical breaking point.

There is a simple truth about the US political system; it relies not on parties and an adversarial atmosphere (as in Parliamentary systems), but rather on representatives being able to put differences aside and unite around a common cause. Until now, the US polity has been able to function, but one does have to ask 'how much longer?' It is a highly complex organism, but in my view the (overly) simple, short answer is that the Americans need to find a way to get money out of politics to a large extent; it doesn't matter which party you are in, if an outside billionaire/well-funded group decides to target you if you vote a certain way, you are going to seriously consider voting as instructed. Yes, we can all say that they should stick to their principles and 'damn the torpedoes!', but it is very human to want to keep your job.

What's the answer? I don't really know, but limits on campaign finances and party 'discipline' are good places to start.

I ain't holding my breath...

having problems understanding what you mean,

this opportunity or problem is not unique to the US system - power brokers can terrorize any democratic system

main problem is the Americans - dishonest and criminal - using threats and terror in politics - no integrity - no backbone

smth I wonder,

White House did request an FBI investigation, delivered yesterday

pretty short notice and pretty short time for doing a proper investigation

now,

could FBI have said ; sorry within less than a week we cannot do anything proper

give us 2 weeks and we can do at least a half baked report

3 weeks - yes - we could probably do smth of substance

or would it have been completely out of order for FBI to say smth like that?

It's tragic really. This man, Kavanaugh, is trying for a lifetime place on SCOTUS, the highest law court in the USA. It's the final court of decision and it's opinions effect the lives of millions of Americans and probably has repercussions in other countries.

Now, instead of evaluating this man's suitability after his "job interview", it has all come back to "f&*k the Republicans" or "f&*k the Democrats" depending on which party you support.

There seems to be no respect for the position that has to be filled.

What counts is the biased opinions of the nominee. That is why Trump chose and fought so vigorously for Kavanaugh. He's now one of Trump's boys.

"Drain the swamp" hahaha
