Yes, it seems that way, i've seen pictures of 30 yr. old Japanese women dressed as schoolgirls in sailor suits, knock kneed, and pigeon toed, but if as you say 13 is the legal age i suppose it's ok, seems a bit off to me though, and most westerners i would think!

   If you read the previous posts , you will see that 13 isnt the legal age in Japan .

Lets not get into a discussion about whether she was prepubescent or not .

She was 13 years old , thats the only information needed and they only was that she needs to be described .

  Shes 13 , hes 71 . No need for anymore labels

Well of course if you wish to lightly discard the fact that he should not be regarded as potential pedophile then that is a matter for your own moral judgement.  But for most of us it is an abhorrent act and if the label fits, he should wear it. And I would think the majority of  TV members would agree with me on this.

Posts bickering about whether or not the offender is a pedophile or not have been removed. That this was an abhorrent act is true, let's wait and see if the an investigation reveals any facts of past misdeeds of this nature come out. Hopefully the offender is sent away for a long time.

We were discussing law. One carried much harsher prison terms. Also misuse of the term weakens perceptions and arguments when it is applied randomly. "A judge let a pedo off with 5 years! Hang the judge!!" when the guilty party was a 17 1/2-year-old's 21-year-old boyfriend.

Whatever you decide to call him , it would have no effect on his trial or sentence (in this case).

   The girl in question was 13 and whether that makes him a peado or not is besides any point .

   The Judge will take her age into consideration , he wont be swayed by what any names anyone calls him or by what any labels people put on him .

It affects people's perception of the judiciary. Many judge's are elected. It affects the town's reaction to his family. What if a man had a picture on his computer of a porn actress who later was found to be 17 at the time, like what happened with Tracy Lords, and then misled people were labeling him as being into kiddie porn? There is nothing wrong with being accurate when debating or reporting an issue.
