Gen Prawit says Thai tourism to rebound after apology to China

BANGKOK, 5th October 2018 (NNT)-Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan believes the tourism sector will pick up again after an apology was offered to China after a recent assault on a Chinese tourist at a Thai airport.

Gen Prawit, also the deputy prime minister for security, said in response to China’s possible decision to issue Thai tourism ‘a yellow card’ over its tourist safety, that the belief was merely speculation.

However, a formal apology has already been offered to the Chinese embassy which expressed satisfaction with Thailand’s response to the matter. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that the tourism sector will be restored and return to being lively again

To still be on the payroll Gen Prawit Wongsuwan most certainly knows where the bodies are buried. What other reason could there be for this fossil still being around?

Back in February, Prawit also said, 'Foreigner database to be ready in six months':

Grovelling to the embassy might be one thing but convincing the people who actually make the bookings and spend the money might take a little more effort and intelligence.

This guy brings a whole new element to the word 'Toad(y)'.

If it wasn't so serious it would be funny. The Junta has been entirely reliant on China for any and all economic growth throughout their term in office, and now they have a problem.

Their obsequiousness is vomit-inducing...

Yeah, somehow I do not see my Chinese customers and suppliers being moved by this.   They were all shocked when toady blamed Chinese tourists for overloading the boat.  The junta does little else other than blame, apologize and make Thailand boring.

And I believe I will grow more hair on the top of my head. Let's see who gets there first.

Just wishful thinking.

Having been in BKK for part of Golden Week and Chiang Mai the rest, I would say that Chinese numbers are down a lot.

Quite a few present in the big name malls but definitely less in Chatuchak and other tourist areas. In Chiang Mai I would say definitely down a lot.

There does seem to be a rise in European tourist arrivals from what I see.

I know its difficult to just cast a glance and say trends but these are areas I have seen through the Chinese boom arrival years and its definitely not the same.

What has Thailand got that China hasn't? I see photos of absolutley beautiful places in China. I know where I would rather go for a holiday.

until next time.  maybe two tour buses full of Communist Chinese tourists running into each other head on at 120 kph.

Oh dear.....he's been to his soothsayer again!

How about grovelling personally to the families of the dead

Don't you just love an optimist.....the expensive Bohemia Chrystal glass is half full! (Borrowed from a friend, of course)

Groveling, obsequious apologies are not nearly enough. The country is mortally shamed and the Tourism Gods rage in righteous anger. This calls for the ultimate sacrifice…

…only then will national honor be restored. Come on Squealer, take one for the team.

It is how bullies act when confronted by a much greater power than themselves.

Out of the billions of baht being predicted on an almost daily basis, how much of this is going into upgrading infrastructure, safety & security for the masses of tourists?

Of course, reading about the accidents/incidents so frequently, it is obvious that the answer to the above is not a lot.

Grovelling to the Chinese government will only be recognized at that level. Until the issues above are addressed and they start releasing money from their (tourism/government) coffers to make it possible to rectify the problem areas in a professional manner instead of the band-aid patchwork that they are designing, future incidents are going to happen (I guarantee) which will rip the bottom out of the tourism boat.

IMO of course with the exception of further incidents going to happen if not addressed; that is a given...............

We have cane toads in Australia, poison and difficult to eradicate.

Just like Chinese tourism Pawtwit is always on a rebound.

The problem with this silly nonsense is that it is happening else where, there is not a week that goes by that some country is having trouble with Chinese tourists and or Chinese, so it boils down to one question,  why.

If he says it then it must be true, he'll be watching...ooops.

Try finasteride 1 mg for hair growth.

Don't wait for the Chinese.

Thailand better gear up to get more western tourists and western expats into the country.

The pensionado's bring in a steady stream of money, woo them, find them a suitable health insurance, give them some perks, and because of them you will also get more family visitors.

Agree that China has a lot of beautiful places but if you want to see tropical beaches for example you are limited to Hainan island which is always very crowded

I will have to keep bumping up my 'don't come to Thailand' anymore posting on all the wechat groups I am a part of. Maybe I need to share a few more videos of the guy getting abused at the airport or the boat tragedy to keep it fresh in their minds.

Farangs need to create a united front to warn people to stay away from this place where they are not wanted.
