Melania Trump goes on safari in Kenya and visits an orphanage

NAIROBI (Reuters) - U.S. first lady Melania Trump read to children at an orphanage, fed a baby elephant, and went on a short safari on Friday in Kenya, the third country on her nearly week-long Africa tour.

Trump, who has also visited Ghana and Malawi, kicked off her day with a stop at an elephant orphanage, where she helped bottle feed an elephant and patted another, clearly having a good time.

Afterwards she donned a white hat and took a short safari in Nairobi National Park, passing by zebras, giraffes and other animals.

The first lady then visited a local children's orphanage. She delighted in holding babies and held hands with older children, who sang and danced. She also read them a book.

Trump met with her counterpart, Kenya's first lady Margaret Kenyatta, and attended a theater performance.

Trump departs for Egypt on Saturday morning before returning to the United States.

Where's the video of the elephant pushing her aside the hard way? I've seen it somewhere.

Nice big smile. Haven't seen that for a while.

On the road again...

One can see that Melania is used to been pushed by a orange baby back in home.

And yeah, it's good to see her smiling.

Reading to the children in the orphanage is bullshit, that's so she can write the entire trip off at taxpayers expense, Obama's missus did the same thing, she took her daughters off for an African trip, luxury safaris, the whole 9-yards, and then she popped into a school for 10 minutes and read a story, so it becomes an official good-will visit and not a personal holiday and can get charged up to government expenses.

At least, QE2 doesn't do that.

So you're saying that had she not popped in to the orphanage she would have had to pay for it herself?

And you really believe that?

I found Nairobi national park surprisingly nice btw for a park so close to the capital.

People go on thrip all the time, I do every year and I suspect you do also. People related to the president , like everyone else, like to, and have the right to travel also, but are under some limitations.

The can not hop on a commercial airliner and go on their own, they require planning associated with the office of the presidency, and security. Also there are political considerations. How do you think the country that the first lady visits will react if she does not show some interest other than personal recreation? What do you think critics will say?

Only she wore a white hat called a "pith helmet."

It has come to symbolize white colonialist rule over the years.

The Secret Service agents in the vehicle were not wearing hats or helmets, and the guide seated behind her wore a uniform beret. While there are no enforced rules or regulations for what to wear on a safari, it is widely suggested that participants avoid bright whites, reds and neon shades.

I am not a Trump supporter, in fact quite the opposite, but by now I think we are overreacting! Lets leave the poor lady along , she has enough problems being married to the Donald.

Pith helmet - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pith_helmet

The pith helmet (Spanish: salacot) also known as the safari helmet, sunhelmet, topee, sola topee or topi is a lightweight cloth-covered helmetmade of sholapith. "
She was a fashion model, and is a lady, and was fashionably dressed for a safari.
The secret service agents were never, to my knowledge, fashion models and were dressed in a manner consistent with their job at that location.
The "guide" seated behind her wore a beret consistent with his uniform.
Nothing out of the ordinary there IMO.

As FLOTUS she must be aware of foreign nations cultural sensitivities. She's not a model on a fashion runway but representative of the United States and President Trump. What she may believe suitable for herself might not be appropriate to the people of the nations she visits.

Good lord..a pith helmet!

An..the natives were furious..

Bwa..ha..ha..ha!

According to the description of  Pith helmet I posted above

"also known as the safari helmet

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pith_helmet#19th-century_origins

She wore a helmet worn by many on safari

I believe we diminish our opposition to Trump  if we start grasping at straws and give credence to the assertion made by Trump supporters that we are hysterical. Best we hold our fire for when it matters.

Good for you Melania enjoy our trip away from the mess your husband created

How do we know Melania is not compromised and working for the Russians?

If you compromised her, wouldn't you be bragging about it?

 Bring something back....

She is Donald’s case officer but it’s a tough job so it’s nice she can get away

Wait for it! In 2 month, her brain- dead stepsons will do the same trip and shoot some elephants...
