BANGKOK, 6th October 2018 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha today inspected public transport services in Bangkok.

Gen Prayut started his inspection journey at Silom MRT station and was briefed on the underground train system in Bangkok and its vicinity. To improve transportation services, the prime minister suggested that rail and bus services be interconnected so that people can commute more easily and conveniently.

Gen Prayut then traveled to Hua Lamphong Railway Station. There, he greeted people and told them about the dual rail system the government is developing for the public.

Afterwards, Gen Prayut traveled in a boat from Hua Lamphong Pier to Thewet Ferry Pier to inspect the connection point between Phadung Krung Kasem Canal and the Chao Phraya River and the interconnectivity of rail, land, and water transportation services.

After his tour of inspection, the premier asked government officials to follow through with development projects for sustainability and a better livelihood for Thai citizens, believing that a well-developed transportation system is the ultimate solution to road congestion.

No spoiling Sunday morning for many commuters with his entourage could be a good beginning.

He said in amazement that he never knew any of this existed before.

Uncle marveled at the ‘big choo-choo’ and loved his ride in the ‘bouncy putt-putt’ boat...but was miffed that they wouldn't let him drive.

Prayut is just politicking for the PM office.

I'm sure we'll more of these"inspection tours" around Bangkok and the country.

Needs to get down to phuket and see what a wonderful transport system the island provides... he will be impressed with not only the high tech system but the incredible price (ripoff) they charge.  Funny how every new Gov. or Mayor who comes to the islands revolving door says they are going to sort it.... lol..... some things just never change.

The general is not wearing any clothing.   What a completely obvious comment.  Integration is not the problem.  The problem is the traffic.  As long as you are on a train or in a boat, you will move and sometimes rapidly.  Why doesn't anybody tell the big fop?

These "inspections" are little more than photo opts.

Many of the dead ends or long stretches in Bangkok rely on Songthaews.  Better coordination with these operators would probably be more helpful to the humble Thai.  But those who ride and operate these useful services probably won't vote for him.

Don't forget with the up coming elections the PM must reacquaint himself with the peasants and how they move around the country... he usually only sees the inside of an air-conditioned limo !!

Their are administrators that recommend that this type of thing be done but don't have any funding capability. When Big P needs to campaign without campaigning he goes out and uncovers these deficiencies and recommends they be corrected. Then funding gets provided and he walks away a hero while accumulating votes for doing something an underling was trying to do but could not get funded.
