webfact
NLA confirms unbiased probe into alleged embezzlement at Wat Bangklan BANGKOK, 11th October 2018 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly has confirmed a probe into an alleged embezzlement of funds at a famous temple in Phichit Province has been performed without any bias. NLA member Kittisak Ratanawaraha said on Wednesday that he has been assigned to visit Wat Bangklan in Phichit Province to look into an ongoing conflict among local residents, which is related to an allegation of embezzlement at the temple. Mr. Kittisak said that he found the issue has been around for over four years as some 1,600 villagers in Tambon Bangklan of Pho Thale District, have opposed the appointment of an interim abbot, who they accused of employing thugs to attack them for years. He said that almost all villagers there rejected the interim abbot and also claimed that there have been unverified changes to the temple’s 39-million-baht bank account. -- nnt 2018-10-11 Nevertheless, Mr. Kittisak said that his trip was not intended to confirm whether there were any irregularities at the temple, but only to observe and take note of the problems local people raised. He stated that it is now the responsibility of the National Office of Buddhism to handle all cases surrounding the temple.

zzaa09
Kind of akin to asking mob bosses to investigate their own... The irony is surely missed.
